D.I.Y. Poetry

"I can kill it!" He said, and departed
Leaving so many friends broken-hearted
He left a large curse,
For instead of a verse
There was just a vague fog where he'd ___________

Came the "vague Fog" with a ROAR!
Out passed the dog, and what's more:
It wasn't just vapor
Our hero used in this caper.
He dropped a log on the _________.

that oughtta do it.

"Egads!" he cried
as he ran for the door
'cause he couldn't partake of that smell anymore
As he slipped on something
both foul and unseen
he disappeared into the fog
and came out clean..

The dog scampered after the "twit",
Through dense fog, a certain mis-fit,
For if he had seen
The mess wasn't cleaned,
He wouldn't have slipped in the_______!

Just so it's not ALL scatological
Here's a verse that is much more methodical
There are ways we can play
And all have our say
But please, don't get too pedagogical

(I will admit to using spellcheck at this point,
but haven't resorted to the rhyming dictionary shelf. yet)

I thought someone was going to do some poetry in here? I searched and searched and searched...and darned if I could find any!

So, instead of lousy limericks...how 'bout some horrible Haiku?

To wit:

Carbon-top guitars
Sound deep, throaty, resonant
Others are jealous

Not too bad...I thought for SURE that Haiku would kill it!

I was wrong again
downplaying Haiku's power
it continues on...

A poem, or joke, would suffice
Even a good pun is nice
For talent's sublime
Even gooder f'it rhyme
But posting alone man? No dice!

RyanAir, the cheap UK airline, was talking about charging a pound to use the toilet on their flights.

Now it'll cost a pound to spend a penny.

Lot's of people have tried to claim that title Karen. It wasn't Dave's exclusively. Sorry.

The purpose of this thread has changed since the original post and has now become a rallying point for those that want a certain other thread to come to an end.

At least this thread has revealed some hidden talents amongst the membership - the other is just an idle, no-brainer post bumper.

Maybe the moderators can change the thread title?

So... let's have a contest to pick a new thread title.

Hey guys, Karen is going through a very bad time right now, with Father's Day tomorrow and missing him so much. When Dave passed away so suddenly, we all promised to be there for her. I suggest everyone send a PM and let her know we still care and are keeping her and the kids in our thoughts and prayers. Thanks.

Karen (OLJ),

Hopefully you're still 'here' because I believe that Dave would have appreciated and contributed to this thread, and possibly even have tried to grab 'bragging rights'.

If anything, since your post, maybe we (OFC family) can dedicate this post to Dave in the spirit and memory of all of our Dads that we can no longer hug.

Here's hoping that you and yours can find some comfort and peace in knowing that so many here share your loss in our own small ways...
