the "cool" ones are going to be the Moosup made ones with the wood binding.
That's the ones I thought we were counting. I had no idea they made them without the wood binding.

I'll stand by with the prize money while our expert panel of judges determine the winner. Either that or its OFC picks for all entrants. ;)

I guess I don't care how many were made. Thanks to Noah, I have one. I should have bought the one for $150 off ebay today. Who cares about a guitar that sells for $150? They are everywhere.

I think if you go to jerome's site, and look in the brochures, for whatever year lists the elite 1537, it lists the 1337 has the acoustic only version. Plus th price list guide in the reference section here at OFC has the 1337 made for same years as 1537 (maybe it's just 1984, to lazy to double check).

But how many have the wood curfling holding the top to the bowl? keep on keeping on

And then there's the faux 1537's which have 2 wooden knobs. But in fact have no electronics inside and are strictly acoustic only ;)

I just got off the phone with Nick Mackin, who was one of the main guys behind the 1537's. He told me the following:

1. R&D started in March 1979

2. The first 18, which were prototypes, were built in the last quarter of 1982

3. Production started in January 1983. 5 were built that month.

4. 13 were built in February and 40 in March.

5. A total of 1082 were built in 1983.

6. The production of 1537's continued in Moosup during 1984, building 20-25 per month.

7. Production moved to New Hartford in 1985.

So now we know that 1082 were built in 1983 and between 240 and 300 were built in 1984, for a total not exceeding about 1400 total production of 1537's.

Glen and Bill have the first production prototypes. I'm guessing that the very first 18 may have been guitars that had Adamas binding and headstock, or that were built and discarded. I know where several of the Adamas style prototypes are.

So mine must have been made at the New Years eve party?

Paul, do those numbers include the 1547 cutaway and the 12 string version.....or just strictly the 1537s?

Closest without going over ... MikeO -- 900! I'll declare him the winner unless you dems and reps out there want to make it into a pissing match and federal court case, in which case, I claim all the lawyers here on the board as counsel for my side, and I hire Moody as the muscle.

Mike, shoot me an email at stonebobbo@gmail.com and I'll arrange for your prize to get to you. Go take a look at the OFC store and decide what you'd like.

I was just testing you. Speaking of recounts, how close does a vote have to be to demand a recount? Does 403-3 qualify? Dave

The first 18 would be exactly like the rest of production I'd think so they're out there somewhere. There were a few with the Adamas ring, Sam has/had one of these. It would include the cty and 12 strings.
