Paul, I love the C-10s and the OMs.... so I did my best to stay away from the SJ (Steve's was calling my name really hard to have a strum)....at least for another year. It will take that long for the piggy bank to open up again after the reaming it has endured over the past 12 months.

Well, I freakin TOLD Y'ALL, now didn't I ???

I hate those smiley faces but this deserves it. :D :D :D

My conclusion is that any guitar sounds good in Matt's or Steve's hands. Far less so in mine.

There were so many nice guitars there it made you cry. A funny story about the D18 was that Bill choose Sunday morning to break it out after we'd had about 90 minutes sleep from the night before. He was pearched ona stool right behind me and I never knew what he was playing. I couldn't turn my aching neck that far around. All I knew was that every time we played something my shoulder blades would rumble. I attributed it to hangover. Until I got up to go pee (also attributed to hangover) and saw that it was the D18. Fuck. Not sure I could pass up buying TEN TAK45's for the price of ONE D18, but damn freaking nice.

All the Adamas I's and slotheads sounded really nice, as did the '08 Collector. Nice, nice instruments. I was actually VERY impressed with the TAK75 during Matt's show (played by Steve, DUH). Run straight to the board, that puppy sounded real fine. In the hands of meer mortals the Ovations sounded like ovations, Taks sound like Taks, etc. Someone played a Taylor that sounded absolutely like a Taylor ('nuff said). All the Collings and Martins were nice as was Davis' Santa Cruz ...

In the end, it wasn't about the guitars. Wasn't even about the music, really. Like I said at the kick off to Matt "Appreciate you being here, but you know what? We would have come anyway."

It was just that kind of an thing ...

Dave

I've noticed that now when I read a post by Dave, Al, Temp, Beal, etc.....I no longer read the post....I hear the post with the individuals voice.

Stephen I had a thread a while back about that same idea. After meeting many of the members on previous tours I read their responses but can hear their voices also.

I had no idea what I was getting into when I ask Bill if I might take a slot in the workshop vacated by a frind of ours.... no idea at all.

I figured I'd get a chance to learn lots of neat guitar stuff, and that was surely the case. I figured it would be a chance to play the guitar for three day stright and the worked out great.

I did not count of the meeting all the great folks that who turned up at the Frisky... who could have anticipated that. I'm gald you all could make it to your little Island; you sure made it a more interesting place for a few days.

I was great to meet you all and I hope everyone makes it back this way some time or another and hope to see you folks again one way or another.

Remember don't be that guy....
Unless you ARE that guy!

The SJ is a custom. It's got a Martin style bridge and peghead and the vintage spacing at the bridge and as goes without saying if I have it, a 1 3/4 nut. It's a curley maple b&s and neck with a spruce top, I forgot what kind. And a tiger stripe p/g.

The CJ-41 is brazilian and adirondack, s/b

It's a gorgeous guitar on it's own, but that pickguard REALLY sets it off . . .

Mark, it was tough dealing with all those guitars. I had to put up with a borrowed 1547 of Beal's. I managed to suffer thru.....
