The fun part is that Nick did say that some of the originals from artists came back to the factory, then they were disseminated in many ways..but it is only 30 years of memory at this point that documents this. Both CWK2 and TK believe they had my guitar at one point too...completely overshadowing the rumour that Nancy had it. It's obviously worth more now that Bill once had it and traded it! Curiously there is no official documentation at the factory (which we saw) saying which guitar(slothead) that Nancy W. got. They do show her getting one that was not a slothead, and there are several pictures of her with a slothead... confirming that she indeed got two..but not necessarily both slotheads. She says she still has one - and she has no idea which one it is. As for accounting for the others, it is going to to take someone actually having real conversations with some artists to try to track the slotheads down. One amazing thing about having all these guitars together was to play and feel the differences between these 10 guitars. We each found ourselves having our own biases - even among these great guitars. For instance, I learned very quickly I could fall in love with one of the wide neck slotheads. Hmmm...no I gotsta find one that's available.

Seems in recent years wide necks have definately caught on and I know that I myself now am much more comfortable with 1-3/4 or 1-7/8 necks compared to the skinny's. It's a real shame that the #47 reissue or the OFC guitar couldn't be offered in an optional wide-neck (for an extra charge). IS ANYONE LISTENING?

I'm never going back. As much as I'd love to own a #47, I'm not going to buy 'cause, I know it won't get played because of the narrow neck.

It's so easy to play, and I don't have the reach problems with a regular classical. Would the fret wire be lower than is the standard now? Wider neck, flatter radius, lower fret wire? Man these things are hard to build when you think about it!

Aside from the 10 guitars you see pictured I have located another 7 so that is half of the production of slot heads. (if you include the 12 string which was not a slot head but in the group) I wish more could attend but I am thankful for what we had. It was a really cool gathering of guitars and people. Watching Nick in the factory was worth the price of admission right there. He has not seen guitar manufacturing for 20 years and things have changed. Just a public thanks to Rick Hall, Frank Untermyer, Kim Keller, John Budny and the men and woman of the factory that once again let us impose on them. A special thanks to Bill whose passion for these guitars is unsurpassed by anyone. btw cliff you were correct I did "assemble" breakfast
