Come on, Bobbo. I was looking forward to jammin to the oldies. If you get current, I'll never catch up. I had a 25 year lapse and there wasn't much in there that I'm interested in.
I knew the 07 isn't Engleman. It wasn't on my list, but I just wanted to tell a neighbor what I thought about it. If I could pick one that I'd like to try, it would be the 2078ES and I'd really like to compare it to a 1537.

A few are fine. But we don't want to get to where we have to wear those Richard Simmons shorts and tank tops. Aside: Hey ... is darkbarguitar coming?

I think the comparison between the the 2078ES and the 1537 are fit and finish and materials similarities more than sound. They're different in almost every other way. But that said, when I played the 2078 I was mightily impressed with the way it came out in total. It would be cool to have one there.

I'm all in favor of you not wearing those Richard Simmons shorts and tank top, too, Bobbo. Maybe someday I'll learn some of the electric guitar stuff, but it will probably be oldies when I learn it.
Boulevard of Broken Dreams was in the list. That's pretty new.
Finally, I still have this ridiculous idea that SWMBO will notice that I really like a 2078ES and will tell me that I should get one. She has been bugging me to get a new Boxster instead.

The price of one headlight for a Boxster equals one very very nice Ovation guitar. Pick any model number you like best. :)

How about I just sell you a headlight for the price of a 2078ES? Then I'll replace my headlight for a couple bucks and buy the guitar.

Hello Mark,
My grandson sells for Porshe. I mean he tries. Some months are better than others. You are like me Mark, we know where and when to go shoppin'.

Hey, can anyone borrow or bring an 05 or 07 Collectors or a 2078ES? I'd really like to try out an Ovation with an Engleman Spruce top and, as much as everyone raved about the 07s, it seems like someone would have one to bring along. I'm thinking I might like to have an Engleman Spruce Ovation and I haven't bought a guitar in a year.
We're still trying to make this trip work - if we do, I'll bring the '05 collectors.

Brad, think you could also list the original artist along with the song title (at least on the TOC)?

Probably could, if it is already included on the sheet. Just means a few more hours of typing, and I might not be able use double columns on the contents page, which then adds another three or four pages to the book.

Not trying to make your job harder....or the print smaller.

I just thought having the OA listed might bring me (and maybe some others) better recognition on some of these tunes.

One winter weekend I went through Otto's book and it took the whole weekend to play just the songs that I knew. Actually, there are quite a few that I know that I don't care to play, but there's plenty of material and most everyone is in the same key that I played it, so it must be right.

Baby, It's You was covered by SMITH and also the BEATLES.

Now sure who the original version was by.

Who'll Stop The Rain was Creedence Clearwater

"Baby, It's You" was written by Burt Bacharach , Luther Dixon and Hal David (lyrics), and originally recorded in '61 by The Shirelles.

And, oh my... the original song didn't help at all in harnessing my raging hormones! This song still brings back many trans-pubescent memories!!!

So... as we draw closer, who all is coming from the east coast? And how are you getting there?

It's looking like we would hit the road on the afternoon of the 23rd, when Nicky gets out of school and hopefully arrive sometime Friday afternoon/evening.

I was mapping out possible routes. On the way there, I'm looking at going through West Virginia, Lexington, St. Louis, Kansas City, Lincoln NE and on to Hot Springs. On the way back, probably a more northerly route with hopes of being in Chicago by Tuesday for the Guitars of Fire extravaganza.

Thoughts?

Maybe we could caravan on the way back, except we'll be stopping in Iowa to visit relatives and won't get to Chicago till Wednesday or Thursday.
I'll be taking the scenic route over: Craters of the Moon National Monument, the Grand Tetons, then across central Wyoming.

Bill sent me a few more songs that he's added to his song book, which serves as the starting point for the Rocky Raccoon Jam Book. The list follows. I'll still need to cut some from the full list as we're now up to 229 songs, plus I believe there may be a few more coming in.

CAN’T FIND MY WAY HOME, Blind Faith/Steve Windwood
DEAD FLOWERS, Rolling Stones
DEAR MY FANTASY, Traffic
HEARD IT IN A LOVE SONG, Marshall Tucker Band
HEY BABY, Bruce Channel
IF YOU COULD READ MY MIND, Gordon Lightfoot
I’M A MAN, Spencer Davis Group
LOVE SONG FOR BOBBY LONG, Grayson Capps
OUTFIT, Drive By Truckers
PAST THE POINT OF RESCUE, Mick Hanley/Hal Ketchum
POLKA DOT UNDIES, Bowser and Blue
SOULSHINE, Warren Haynes/Gov’t Mule
THE MIDDLE, Jimmy Eat World
