Evidently, the version of Cubase that I purchased came with a limited number (like 20) of times you could rip a Cubase file to an .mp3. I used my "last" one for this tune. Naturally, Steinberger now wants me to purchase the ".mp3 translator" from them. Anyone know of a viable alternative??

I have no idea if there is a difference in quality of MP3 conversion, but I have no complaints about this program so far.

As for mp3s, I just import the tune into iTunes as an mp3 at the highest res setting and then go into the folder and grab it. I capture all the the info about the song in iTunes before I import. Files are between 5 and 6 megs.

I'm really just looking for a software alternative for ripping to .mp3 . . . Open your WAV file with Audacity, then Export it as MP3. Hit "Options" to tweak the bitrate, etc. Very straightforward. You can download Audacity for Windows, Mac, and Linux/Unix. An mp3 is only as good as its encoder. The iTunes encoder is not well-thought of. LAME is.

It's called "Carmelo". It should be the top song on the player. Go here: http://www.myspace.com/stonebobborocks edited and fixed. Thx Randy

Unfortunately not an option for the Windows version of iTunes. Didn't mean to step on any toes, Bobbo! Most of my MP3's are ripped via the iTunes encoder as well. And by modern standards, at lower bitrates to boot. They're fine for my tin ears. :p

I need to set up a site like Bobbo or you or some of the others that I have seen/listened to so that I can have a place to dump my stuff.

It's kinda' like playing a piece of plumbing, but it's got a cool, "breath-y" sound. In the middle, I added Jeanette's silver-plated. Brighter, and . . . well, "silver-y". (btw, the "ocean" sounds're from Jeanette's SharperImage "sound machine".) The site is on Yahoo. Easy/Cheap. Haven't heard Boobo's, yet. Can't do MySpace here . . .
