BTW- don't you think the prior jab from chatman, who assumes someones abilties, or prejudges them, was a little provoking? you may both want to cherish it. given the chance i'd love to hear you and him both play.

You?? Originally posted by '69D28: I play music for the love of music, not for 'clients only'. When I create something people enjoy, they pay me for it. I've sold several hundred, since you ask. No big deal, but not bad for something I recorded in my home in my spare time as a hobby. given the chance i'd love to hear you and him both play. I have no desire to break into the music business, I have a family, and a life. I don't need to "play out 3-4 times a week, pulling $300-$500 a gig". I "pull" twice that much going to work 4 days a week. If you like what you do, and are successful at it, as you say, then good for you. This is the Ovation fan club. If you want to talk about your Martins, fine. There are many Martin owners on this board as well, who would love to talk about them. But if you are only here for juvenile rhetoric and to talk trash about other members and their instruments, then you'll do it alone... and by the way... Originally posted by '69D28: Do you ever wonder who you're really talking to?Originally posted by cwk2: WTF is so funny about it??? It is funny that he talks about Brazilian Rosewood etc but by 69 most of Martin's guitars were Indian Rosewood. Small detail..... actually, you're wrong...most dreds started in 69, but the two i own are brazillian- made in 1969. other models of martin guitars started using indian after that, but used brazillian up untill 1970-1971. get your facts straight.

Joined: January 2002 Posts: 14127 Location: 6 String Ranch | Hey 69D28, Welcome back and thanks for straightening out my misconception on the Brazilian stuff. I always thought it was the late 60's was when everyone switched but WTF do I know, it must have been the jet fuel fumes got my memory. To be truthful I never gave any of the Martins from the 60's, 70's and 80's much attention. When I have I found them to be very average, with few exceptions. I'm sure you'll point out that yours are in the exception category and I'll accept that. I like the openness of the older ones, I've got a 34 that is absolutely wonderful and a 65 that would finish last in the bow-wow 500. Since you seem the expert here were the D35s always Indian or did they start out Brazilian?

So you do it for the love of music. How do you reconcile this with childishly bragging about how many gigs you play and how much you 'pull down'?

Why are you feeding that? I'm glad he loves his guitar. I love mine as well, but don't feel a need to rip others' selection. Oh well.... by the way niner, I am a licensed private investigator. Much better to be private than being a public dick like you. Ok Al, climb all over me... I couldn't resist........ Bye guys. I'm outta here for a long weekend w/ the Fetching Mrs. P.I. Today's our 16th wedding anniversar and we're leaving the kids behind, going somewhere exciting, and probably sleeping for 3 days.
