I think the OFC II was the best of the best at the time, but I have to say I think this is equal. I like the slot-head design which the OFC II didn't have, but it did have the booster which I guess I could get added to this one if I want. What this does represent to me, is the ringing in a new era of Ovation. One of the first off the line. There is not a fiber of carbon out of place on this guitar. It plays and sounds fantastic. To those waiting, on new guitars, the wait is worth it.

I'm interested in what effect the rather uncommon use of cedar wood for the tops bring to the sound of the centerhole acoustics. Edited by leonardmccoy 2016-08-09 7:06 AM

My 2 days off are just starting, so I'll try to get some half decent photos between sessions playing it. First impressions are the workmanship is perfection. And the strings have solid brass ends on them, not hollow color-coded balls. What are they, anybody know? The label inside the upper bout is quite dark and difficult to see, which I think is a benefit cosmetically. The wider neck is quite comfortable but I am making mistakes from not being used to it. Love it so far!

Sounds like Adamas strings! The old ones had solid brass ends.

Something grand...deeper, more resonant, more reverent. "Awe" inspiring! Like, R-E-S-P-E-C-T or "See, I told you Ovations were the best guitars in the world!" kind of...well, for lack of a better term, "inspiring". Just so grateful that you all are willing to share pics of your historic instruments. I suspect that sound bites won't do the guitars justice - just as pics don't... FlySig - 2016-08-10 7:15 AM Photos can't do justice to the deep red gloss finish. Wow! And the bear claws are much cooler in real life than in pictures. ...but still, can't beat back the longing to hear what they sound like (hint, hint, hint)... Thanks for sharing! Thankful and inspired but not 'satisfied' over here in the Far East! Edited by arumako 2016-08-10 7:33 PM

If you can afford one, you must contact Al and buy one. This Custom Legend is one of the nicest and Best Ovation I owns. Long life to Ovation Guitars !!

Mark's is stamped 2077 AV50 3 of 50 and Jerome's is stamped 2077 AV50E 3 of 50. Beautiful guitar and great photos. CONGRATS !!!
