Actually, the line is "she's a hobo wire-toaster" from Captain Beefheart's tune "Hot Head," but what is a toast without vino? So I went with the wine ... red or white, depending, of course, on the entree.

Dave is my name and the 3DG is "3rd Dragoon Guards" which is the brass emblem I wore on my epaulets when I was a "trained killer" :D for "Her Majesty" The proper name for my regiment is:
3rd Carabiniers, 3rd/6th Dragoon Guards. (Prince of Wales's Dragoon Guards)

Mine's easy, David without the vowels. Been using it as my computer user id since the 80's, long before anybody ever heard of a video DVD (Digital Versatile Disk.) My workplaces seem to always be full of Davids, and nobody can pronounce my last name, so I quickly become 'dvd' even in face-to-face conversation.

Hey everyone, brand new to the forum and this is my first post. Thought it was as good of a place as any to introduce myself. My screen name is my email address minus the @yahoo.com. It is my first name (Kevin obviously) my badge number (812 - I am a sergeant with a local police dept. in Kentucky), and the year I created my yahoo account (2006). I have recently started playing guitar again after a long time off. I bought myself a 6778 lx-vn Standard Elite as a divorce present, LOL. I played a ton of acoustic guitars while trying to figure out which one to buy. I had always wanted an O but never got around to getting one. After playing my friends 1778 Elite I was absolutely hooked. No ther acoustic that I had touched: Martin, Taylor, Breedlove, etc. even came close to the playability and sound. Found a good deal on one on ebay out of ZoZo music for under $700.00 brand new with hard case and jumped on it. I have never been more pleased with a purchase. After that I got a mild case of GAS and bought two new Sratocasters; A black American Standard (now for sale lol), and a John Mayer Signature Strat (Awesome, no other word for it). Glad to be a part of this forum, and look forward to discussing O's with everyone!

Mine comes from the fact that I am left handed but play guitar right handed. (I was surprised that when I signed up for the site that this screen name was not taken already.) Playing right handed guitar makes it very convenient for making future guitar purchases. As I have been told, "left handed people are the ones in their right mind. ...we use the right side of the brain to be left handed!" Guess you can now see why I like this website so much!! Keep the humor coming...from either side of your brain!!

Newbie here,
and after 40 someodd years of playing, finally got my first O.
Always wanted one since they first were intro'd.
The name, Movation came about because the wife wasn't sure what those guitars with "the belly" were called. Thank goodness our local guy is an O dealer and directed her to a very pretty light top Celebrity CC48.
Changed the strings to Martin bronze 10s.
(I apologize right now to all the 12 purists)
Lowered the bridge (mark, sand & fit 5 times!)
Love the sound and now the action.
My "Movation" has now been the guitar of choice for the 1st set.

Vin

A grand welcome and watch your wallet!

This is the greatest collection of 'spend your money fer ya' group on line that predates the current economic situation...

Seriously, you've joined a very special family. I personally know that for a fact!!

Great drandfather William Daniel,Grandfather was William Erby, Dad Jr, and I got blessed with the III. No fourth, just 5 dogs,4 cats, and 6 goats(down from 29). No, we don't line in an apartment. 15 acres with a house built in 1786. If I ever perform again I thought I'd go with Willie Earl Hart (from junk mail I received).

Anthony Peter and an Italian name that's difficult to pronounce. Friends sometimes call me Tony D, and the very first guitar forum I joined was the Fender Forum, but Tony D was taken so I threw in my middle initial, so I just stuck with Tony PD to be consistent (Fender, here and Carvin Forums).

I haven't posted at Fender Forum since they discontinued the hard-tail strat :( .

I had no idea that this would become a second home for me when I registered. I was just messing around and thought "standing ovation," that's punny, so I tried "standing" and it was available. Now I'm stuck with it… I later found out that there is another member using the longer "Standing Ovation." Had I know that, I probably would have selected something else…

…plus, I usually play sitting, and never get that kind of ovation either… ;)

Standing... You can change you handle, you just cannot change it back without moderator's help.
(I learned that the hard way)

So choose wisely, Grasshopper.

Thanks, Oh Great Enlightened One, I see that there is that possibility, but at this point. I'll probably just stick with what I have…

Maybe I'll just change my real-world name to "Stanley P. Dingham"… ;) Stan Ding… StanDing…

Welcome, Footprints! That is a cool user name. I also think it is cool that you do custom body wear for special needs children.

I chose "Guitar Slinger" as it was diffrent and I close to my other nickname of "Gun Slinger." While I was an active law enforcement officer I tagged "Gun Slinger" but the senior officers because I was the first female to have consistantly won top honors in various firearms competitions and 5 consecutive gold medals in our Police Olympics.

Hi, Iwent the easy way and kept my first name..... I can see an other Canadian did the same.. That much for imagination !!!
Anyway been on the board for a while even if I dont talk to much.
Got my first O in 1978 ,Breadwinner second hand.
Found a Tornado 1 1/2 year ago,could not resist!!
Sorry for accoustics my over size hands (XXXXL gloves) demand a WIDE neck to fingerpick.
Started with a classical and got a Seagull 1 7/8 neck.(Mini-Jumbo CW)
Been thinking of bying a 12 string fot the wide neck and but on only six (wy not)..
Anyway it's fun to read all of your screen names story.

I just joined today after hearing about the Ovation Fan Club at the Acoustic Guitar community. Anyway, my screen name is my professional name (as opposed to my given name).
