They speak better English in Denmark than they do here.

Been to Germany as a Child...
Got friends from France and Poland and Yugoslavia and Russia...
They all speak a few languages fluently.
Usually one of them is English.

Like I said... Blame it on the Education System.

Yeah, right.
No. The challenge was for TUS alone. He declined. Game over.

Well, his music is all over the internet and the OFC CD's so I guess most people have already heard it. Interesting "game".

Thanks. That was one of those "wrote it in 5 minutes" songs.

Hopefully all of our newer members will contribute tunes to the next OFC CD (if Dave decides to do another one).

There are a number on my ning page, but they're not good enough to include on anyone's cd. At best, they're first drafts. Certainly open to review and criticism. They're also more experimental than anything.

The OFC CD's are not talent contests.

They are just a sharing of tunes by our various members and regardless of quality they are all enjoyable and fun to listen to.

If you haven't purchased the 1st couple, I think Miles or Dave might have a few available.

Welllllllllll...then they're welcome to include something. I'm not sure how to proceed in letting them know it.

There have been three OFC Members CD's produced ove the last few years. My stock is sold out. Check with Miles and maybe he still has some in the OFC Store.

I'm busy right now with the CD for the Tak forum, but maybe after the holidays we can do another OFC one.

HEY STEPHEN - SPEAKING OF CD ???

There are many members here with way more talent than I have, but I never heard anyone suggest until this weekend that talent, or even musical knowledge, was a requirement for participation. If it was, I probably wouldn't have participated and would still be stuck at the level I was when I joined--playing a couple of times a year. Don't ruin it for those of us who come here to meet some people who have similar interests and obtain a little inspiration and motivation once in awhile.
Dobro's CD arrived Friday and I told SWMBO we should find out where he's playing next year when we're in Chicago. She was surprised that I knew someone who was a "professional". I told her I hung out with a bunch of people who were way better than me. I meant that in a very broad sense. I hope it stays that way.

+1 Mark! You also hang out with people who play worse than you too. :D ;) .

It would be funny if we took the sappiest song in the world, like "If I gave my Love a Cherry", and had a place on the forum to everyone to post their craziest version of it....just for grins. It would be as fun to hear Dobro's, Lanakai's, or Dweezil's as it would to hear TUS's, Gallerinski's, Beals, g8r's, or Caravan's.

Dave, with all the deaths, illness and other tragedies in the family this year and my son moving out to LA for phase 2 of his career my time has been short. I have spent more time in Texas over the last 6 months than I had prior the last 15 years.

I have the song written (and I personally love it) but have not gotten to do a decent recording of it yet.....just a scratch rhythm and vocal track.

Hopefully your sliding deadline will still be in time for me to submit. I'll do my best.

Michelle, when I found this site, I hadn't played for about 20 years and was trying to remember songs I had learned back then or learn ones I had tried back then. The board was a good resource. Stephent28's post reminded me that he sent me the only decent tab of Time In a Bottle that I had seen until that time and also turned me onto Pete Huttlinger. I now have 3 of his dvds that I still haven't mastered. I've received and dished out my share of put downs, but for the most part, this board still is a good resource in addition to the entertainment aspect.

Mark,

You're only put down because you're an attorney, not for your playing skill (none of us can afford to take shots at others for their play skills).....

You haven't heard me play, Paul. Sfter about 50 years of Pollock and lawyer jokes, I've developed a pretty thick skin, but I still get pissed when someone criticizes my taste in music.
