I suggest we let him make up his own mind, as long as it's not another Elite T.

Just tell them the keep the Flowers, Feathers, Leaves, or whatever-those-things-are. Personally, I would just get a sorta puke-blue non-cutaway... Or have them make me a textured top slot head with an updated Millennium fretboard... since Pluto ain't a Planet anymore. :p

When do you get to place your order? ****It would be REALLY nice if the guys at the factory would do a photo post of the steps of the guitar's production as it progresses in real time*** (...and have it on the Ovation Guitars Web site. It would probably make for some more interesting marketing publicity)??? ...Some YouTube video feed would also be very cool.

The reason I said my order would be sure to please the minority and shock the majority was because of one feature this guitar had to have, courtesy of a rotator cuff injury that I sustained about a year ago. After being forced to stop gigging (and after months of rest and therapy didn't help) I had to switch to a supershallow bowl in order to be able to play again (and for hours without the pain). So, at the cost of tone and volume but out of ergonomic necessity, this Adamas will be a supershallow. So with that decision made for me (and truth be told the supershallow feels so good to an electric player like me that my shoulder feels like a blessing and a curse!), I wanted to build the best gigging guitar I could think of, so... drumroll please... I'm forgoing my Elite T fixation and taking the carbon top plunge at last! This, in addition to bass side epi's, should definitely give back a nice little bass punch. The next decision will also probably get thumbs up and down, which is the neck width. I was an electric guitarist long before acoustic, so it's the thinnest neck possible for me. As for the fretboard, EBONY all the way. For vibratos and slides, to my fingers there is no comparison. The preamp choice is also easy for me. The older pre's and the newer OP-PRO Studio and VIP for whatever reason don't sound as good plugged into through my gigging PA (Bose L1) as the tried and true OP-PRO, so that will be the one. And of course there's the color. Everyone knows I love red, but before red my favorite color was black. After fluctuating back and forth between red and black, I thought why not combine the two. I've always loved the red to black burst on some of the glossy tops, but didn't know how it would look on a carbon top until I saw this: Black Cherry Burst Now I don't know about you all, but that's just about the baddest freaking color I've ever seen! Done deal! I want this color! Finally, this IS a customized guitar that I never ever plan to sell, so I decided to give it something personal. I don't mean putting "J-U-K-E-B-O-X J-O-E" on the fretboard like the "S-E-V-E-N" on the Mick Thomson model! But just a little something that says me. I had an idea that they said they could do. But I think I'll save this one for the unveiling :-) Well, there you have it, what I consider to be an absolute dream gigging guitar, and I'm still pinching myself in disbelief that I get to be the dreamer in this whole story. A big THANK YOU again to everyone for your votes. As I promised check the For Sale section if you haven't already for my heartfelt thank you to the OFC!

It really does make the deep bowl comfortable to play, and to me it feels closer than a medium bowl. Which headstock are you going for? (or is that part of the top secret-thing? :)

Joined: August 2009 Posts: 381 Location: Miami | I was thinking the same thing! In fact, it would look good next to either the red or black Elite T's, seeing as it will have both colors in the burst! On the contour bowl, I couldn't agree more. I absolutlely love how it feels sitting down. The problem is, I can't play it standing up, where it actually feels farther away from me than the mid bowl, and I've already had to make the switch to shallow for my shoulder's sake. On the headstock, no secret here. I actually like all of the O headstocks. (Yes, I like the brocolli, and yes, I like the slothead!) But I love the way the solid headstock looks with the Adamas stripes, complementing the SSB's more electric profile. (That being said, there will be a secret little something on the headstock's TRC) :-)
