Mike, will you move back to Colorado, so I can spend a few days checking out all the great Ovation collections there?
Sorry to say I was rooting for Dave for purely selfish reasons. I thought he might pick it up on his way back from San Jose and have it when I visit him on Saturday. I don't know if I'd dare play it, but it would be nice to just get close to one.

Mark,

I've played about 4-5 original slotheads. They are great guitars, but they are just guitars. They are meant to be picked up and played.

Please note that I didn't use the word "gosh" one time in the message above.

This should be marked by Ovation as a banner day. This is the first time, on the resale market, that an Ovation has sold for more than $10K. Pretty impressive.

So, out of 33, do we know how many of them reside inside the family walls?

Caught you, Paul. Guitars and cars are meant to be used. I have a lot of Porsche friends, but I'm one of the few who drives his every day. I try to play at least half of my Os every day. I look forward to having so many that I need to retire in order to have the time to do that.
I wasn't sure if Dave would want my paws on his new baby, but I was sure planning on it. I also appreciate listening to the sound of a good guitar played by someone good. I don't get that much by myself.

...so, as I was saying, out of 34, do we know how many reside with OFC'ers?

Mark, you come on down to SoCal one of these days. There's a slothead that lives about 30 miles away from me and the owner is kind about having it played.

As best as I can tell, 11, maybe 12. #35,36,41,42,43,45,47,49,53,54,57.
I might be missing one on that list, somebody check the calendar, it would be there.

Nice grab Mike. Now I am really looking forward to your return in the future (it was the beers being consumed that got me!)

WHAT THE ??? I jump on a plane for a new hours, land go log onto PayPal to close the deal and ...

Hey nice grab Mike. No hard feelings. I see you made a last second "cover your ass" bid. Afraid Mrs. Standingovation was going to snipe? Sure I would have liked to have won it but, but I'm just as happy for you and really glad we kept another one in the family.

My gut feeling is that now the 10k barrier has been cracked (and buyers willing to pony) you may see a few more shake loose. Heck I remember a few years ago Cliff telling me "10 grand and she's yours". We'll see what the future holds. Anyway, good luck with your new addition. By the way for those who have not noticed, Mike has put together one hell of a vintage collection. We're all proud of you.

As for me? Well life isn't so bad. Check my other thread for a description of the Slothead Consolation Prize.

All the best, Dave

Paul, I've avoided LA when I could. I think the last time I was there was to take the kids to Disney Land.
Next year the annual Porsche Club gig is in San Diego, so I'll be there for a week. I need to see Croce's.
