If I remember correctly (I spent quite a while with this guitar at the tour) #47 has it in the same place as well: I have pic's although not very good...I've since learned the secret.. White balance, exposure compensation, etc. I haven't taken enough pictures of guitars to be any good at it. I think Tupperware's pictures are the best one's I have seen.Note to Al: Have a patient, knowledgable digital Photographer (Asian preferred) host a "How to take and Post Guitar Pics" class at OFC 08. Al's attendance is MANDATORY. Nice find. Where is the owner?

The original slotheads have held up very very well. 30 years old, most of them played a lot, and all that we've seen, are in good shape. It's a testiment to Ovation that they were built so well...

Records I saw at the mothership indicated she only got one - but she said something about swapping one out - and Nick confirmed at the reunion - this occasionally happened...there is about 3 months difference in producion dates between 43 and 44...could account for this....Sam has pics I believe of her with 44....watch YouTube videos of her on slotheads - there seem to be differences in the epalauts on various videos. Ahhhh..the mystery of it all - it adds to the fun. 43 - when I originally got it - the nut had been recut - to severely narrow the string spacing...something she is known to do...she has tiny hands....the fun one would be if the Cat Stevens (Litter according to Bill)original ever shows up.

I could not go the price you had on the one up at that time around 4.5 years ago now but I have ended up finding some Adamas 1's that have filled the bill so far and this nutty group of enthusiasts. Good to hear from you I rarly see you posting in here. What do you think of the slothead repro's....in general?? And I am looking very hard to find a Baritone Adamas 1 you wouldn't happen to have a line on one of these rare birds for sale anywhere wouldja? Randy Decker

Joined: February 2004 Posts: 2487 | Elias; or whom ever he is at this point has signed his posts as Mark?? I am speaking of Elias's web site where he from time to time has Admas's for sale. I will see if I can find it again and post a link. We spoke back when I first decided to buy an Adamas like I remembered and wanted back when I was 17 I called him more than once and I could have owned one of these original Slotheads but as usual even though the price was not quite what they are worth now it was out of my league. He is a wealth of knowledge on these Slotheads. Randy

I am now unsure if his site is still runnning perhaps it is only when he has a few Adamas guitars for sale that it is up and going. I am very confused now anyway I found some very negative posts on the web from elias, while doing a search for his site, concerning a predominant member in here and I am not sure if this was the decent thing to do to anyone for any reason. Anyway, with that said,we are all nuts about Ovations and for me their flagship Adamas line is news no matter the story behind the personal shit. Here's all I can find right now. http://www.vintageguitar.com/gallery/details.asp?id=35&firstTopic=4...

I have never hid behind any false e mail addresses or false identities. my e mail has been the same since the early 90's. I don't have any false identities because I am too busy to keep them straight.

Joined: July 2005 Posts: 1609 Location: Colorado | NorthCountry: You must have me confused with someone who has a web site...Or I am really confused...I hope Al will attest to you 100% I am not Elias - whoever that is... I think Cliff, Fugot, ProfessorBB,CWK2, PlayAdamas, Samova, even Stephent28 (banned I think)will also attest I am not Elias. Nor have I ever met the person you are refering to. Of this I know -Al's a cool dude (I digress) I own SH #43, I got it in a sordid tale in a store in Smyrna Georgia while looking for a 1537 - quite a while ago (1985)...it was an integral part of over 2000 Up With People Shows...then hundreds of pit orchesra shows over the years....it took the work of Darren and CWK2 at the mothership to determine its actual serial number...I made a small living with it...I even...oh my gosh...modified the electronics...for which Tim gave me the inimitable moniker of "Joey Mengele". But it made it cleaner and better in its electronic sound. Curious as it may sound - this was a tool for me - not a beloved family member. It still plays well - even if I don't. All the other stuff about #43's history is a lot of connect the dots...without all the dots - ergo - the full picture not really formed...heck Bill thinks he owned it for while. I've played the Re-issues - and think they are stunning in their sound...This particular instrument shines with its individual note definition - and ability to cut through orchestral mixes...for anything more technical - ask Cliff - he saw the Martinesque wave forms on the scope in Conn.....I have not heard an OFC quitar yet - but I am guessing it is stunning too...I'm hoping that the OFC guitar in Denver and #43 will spend some time together soon...it will be a fun A/B. BTW - I like #43 - and there are others made by other luthiers I like too... If the OFC ever clims up to #43 in their issue...well then I have a dilemma .... Mark Langston...
