This is an interesting thing.

Unfortunately for me, my connection is too slow. Nice to see Kaki, and I heard a little of her great talent. I guess I need a faster connection, but I enjoyed what I saw.

My best comparison is standing outside the naked lady tent at a 1950's travelling circus and getting a glimpse of the decadence waiting inside if you were willing to part with what then was big money for a soldier or a farm boy.

That's all I got then and now.

Here is a young singer on YouTube. I just love her voice; her custom legend is also nice. Here is the link...

Terra Naomi "Say Its Possible"

Also, not an Ovation but I love maple guitars...

Terra Naomi "Close to Your Head"

Another with her Ovation...

Terra Naomi "Jenny"

I admire anyone who can go out there with just a guitar in hand and sound so good.

I wish we had things like YouTube and digital records around 30 year ago...

It's a clip from the Plant & Page "Unledded" MTV special, also marketed as the "No Quarter" concert.

Page's doubleneck Elite is the 12/6 configuration, 12 on top with a shallowbowl. As I understand it, this design was the benchmark for the later D868-X Elite series shallowbody that Ovation made during the later 90's. Maybe some of the factory folk's have some better insight ;)

This was prior to the introduction of the Celebrity CSD-225 & CSD-255 models.

Page really is the master of the double and triplenecks. I think his brain switches into auto as soon as he picks up a guitar.

p.s. If anyone come's across that gorgeous white doubleneck in the picture, call me...that would pair off my black one so nice :D

Actually, an FTP site that would hold sizeable files for (like)seven days and then automatically "dumps" 'em WOULD be cool!! . . .

Yeah, my company is starting to get wise. They have blocked most "video streaming" functions, like youtube. Also have blocked myspace and most gambling sites. Interestingly, all my online dating links including chicks-with-dicks still work perfectly.

Google video still works! The dating and porn sites were long ago blocked, but not the gambling!

I am "my company getting smart"... I won't ban anything, but I will EXPOSE everything people do online at work, including how much time I spend on the OFC (as opposed to how much time I spent working on stranded airplanes while travelling on Saturay to get to a stupid trade show, which I'm not attending, and two dinners in Chacago). My biggest problem right now is network traffic from people serving/sharing Itunes in the office.

Doug Smith recently won the International Guitar Competition at the Walnut Valley Music Festival in Winfield, Kansas. Winning at Winfield is quite prestigious, as it has become the "Van Cliburn" of acoustic fingerstyle competitions.

Anyway, Doug is a resident in my home town of Portland, and incidentally, my guitar teacher. However, don’t construe that association as having anything to do with my abilities.

So here he is on youtube performing one of his compositions.

Good one Greg!

Did you catch Doyle Dykes doing As My Guitar Gently Weeps off of that selection list?

At the CMS a couple of years back DD played one of his many renditions of something and during the Q/A and How to part of the session he took apart each separate technique or "trick".

He basically uses some very simple and do-able techniques! Throw in a handful of Nashville Showmanship and some attitude and you got it.

Be awed, amazed and encouraged by these talents.

These "guitar gods" may have more talent than us and they may be wired a tad different, but they are only human. Five digits on each hand..two arms, etc.
I got a kick out of it when I looked up at the video screen at the WHO concert and saw that Pete plays the opening to Amazing Journey.... just like I do!!!
