Hey, don't get me wrong. I'm not excessively cheap, and I am looking forward to this.

But golf is not my hobby, and I'm just trying to avoid spending too much on accessories I'm probably never going to use again.

I can pick up a pair of Footjoys on the bay for $35.

Practical, Wask.

Maybe obsessively practical but practical nevertheless.

Maybe. That would certainly explain a lot of things.

My sentiments exactly. I was thinking about shopping at Goodwill. I'm sure there are folks out there who recycle old golf shoes.

I'm excessively cheap, but Beal got a great discount at what looks like a wonderful course. Wabbit, when I went down to Arizona a few years ago, I didn't want to haul my clubs and the Wooden Roundback, so my dad borrowed a neighbor's clubs so I could go out and play 9 holes with him. I don't think there were 2 of the same brand of clubs in the bag and none less than 10 years old. I shot a 37. Best 9 of my life. In spite of the marketing, for us duffers, the equipment doesn't matter much. My new driver just helps me hit it 20 yards further--out of bounds. Just wear tennis shoes if they'll let you and borrow some clubs. I have an extra set of clubs you could borrow, too, if you don't mind real wood woods. They were great clubs back in 1970.

Hehe.

Thanks, Mark, clubs aren't a problem. I inherited my dad's old set, but I'm not hauling them to FL. I don't have a problem renting a set if they don't allow sharing. If they require shoes, that's not a problem either, I'll just pick up a chea... inexpensive pair.
Yes, I looked at the ARGC site, and Beal wangled a BIG discount, and that is very cool! THANKS, BEAL!!

I'm expecting this to be a lot of FUN! Well, for me. The other three in my foursome may use a different word when we get back to the clubhouse... if you don't hear from me Thursday night, please ask the police to check the water hazards for any shreds of clothing the gators didn't eat.

So stuffing tissues into a pair of my old shoes isn't an option for the high rolling Wabbit.

He'd rather wear the shoes of a stranger that make his foursome partner feel useful and needed.

I just called Amelia River. No problem with players sharing a set of clubs, and I can wear sneakers and not be dragged from the course in disgrace.

...at least not for that reason, anyway...

...and Stephen, you are useful and needed. For example, I could really use a paid vacation, and I need you to pay for it...

Thanks for the update, Wabbit. I'm pretty handy in the garage so I'm going to track down some of those rubber spikes and install them on some old sandals. Not sure why. Having spikes will eliminate one excuse for why I play so horribly. Even when I did play, I eventually gave up trying to use woods. 200 yards straight with an iron (didn't seem to even matter which iron) was always more preferable than what I could do with one of the woods (out of bounds, in the trees, in the pond, through a window, behind the T, etc.). That's why I'm hoping for "Best Ball" because then I won't even bother with wood shots off the T. In fact, I may not in any event.

About 50 yards was the best I could do with an iron, although once I got a putter to go 75. I got a really good windup before I let go of it.

Wabbit, I don't know why we're even talking about golf. Let's rent a couple of motorcycles and head to Daytona.

The OFC demands a video. Tiger wrote, "How I Play Golf." If Wabbit stars in a movie, "How I Play Golf" and Tiger sues for copyright infringement, it'll make the best seller list in no time. It might go right up there with Tim Conway's golf videos.

He was funny. There's a video on the golf swing that I should send to Waskel if I find it. Someone sent it to me because I've been known to overanalyze my swing. It starts out like any other instructional video and then rattles off about 27 steps to think about when you hit the ball.
