Records when it 'hears' a signal, USB 2.0 connection or use the 1/4" output, 1/4" input and one that adds a microphone, relatively low cost ($99 and $149, respectively). Doesn't do the lessons, MP3s, etc., but made for capturing ideas.

(sounds like I just visited a "professional")

It probably cost me $30 15 years ago. I don't know how they made it so cheap. Maybe when these things get down below 60, the market will be big enough. I'm sure the first casette recorder was pretty expensive.

I have no agenda on this board and wish ovation success on this one. they did everything right.

And they got there first! There will be plenty of updates, downloads and bigger bloomin geek points added soon enough. Here is an affordable guitar that can be adjusted to play fairly decent and it is affordable. I applaud if for no other reason than the fact that there is a new option in Soundholes! I currently own an iPod classic with a measley 30 GB but it works for me. Look at how much Market has turned up in the last 3 years to just carry your music. Now you can make it, carry it and share it. This iDea (I still like iBowl better) is going to bust into separate Web zones, forums and contests. It is what it is and it can only get better.

I don't know what more I could do, maybe order two of them? Assuming it works as advertised, it's just too cool of a toy not to have. Plus finally a darn tuner that works without having to plug in? Man that alone is worth the 3 beans. From what I see in the videos and from what Matt posts I believe this thing will be a hit. Maybe not with the majority of us old farts around here, but with the younger crowd who constitute Ovations future revenue stream. Dave

So I will hope that that is the MSRP and I can get it cheaper. They say it is interchangeable with the newer pre-amp... I'm guessing that means OP-Pro... That would be cool in my 2058T 12-er! :D Oooh-ooh! Does that mean that I could put put it in my 2078T and lay a bass-line... Then stick it in the 2058T and play the 12 over it? Or vicey-versy?

I wonder if anyone will buy the guitar, drop their VIP (or other preamp in it and on-sell the iDea (with VIP) for a loss of less than $299? OMA, I'm surprised you haven't thought of this.

I will have product for that release date but cannot ship until then. (or maybe I can figure out how long it will take to get to you and ship on that day) I am sure there will be others who will not play by the rules but I guess I am just stupid. Anyway I have some guitars and preamps coming in. if you want one contact me.

But this new iDea pre-amp seems like a great innovation to me. For capturing spontaneous ideas, what could be better? I have a hard time seeing how you could use it as a live looper, but who cares. I've got a Boss RC50 for that. Seems pretty cool to me.
