Guitar Center will not be happy.

Specs state it has a solid top.
I'm sure these are a much, much better value & quality than the crappy Gibsons & Epiphones I've seen displayed at Best Buy before.

My son really wants one of those "Police Line Do Not Cross" guitar straps. We saw them when we were in The States but he didn't buy one and now regrets it because he can't find one over here.
If anybody puts in an order for anything from Best Buy I'd appreciate you getting the strap for me. I wouldn't trust me for the money, but hey there's one or two born every minute. I'd offer a couple of names here to vouch for my character, but that would actually work against me.

It's a new world of marketing out there, boys!

Clive... There is a Best Buy right down the road. I'll check it out today at lunch for that strap.

I was in our local Best Buy this past Saturday & checked out their new acoustic room, such as it is. All Celebs, low end Epiphone, Alvarez, Yamaha, and a couple of mid-range Taylors.

I did convince the one kid who was in there to give US O's a look before committing. I think he was impressed by the sound I got out of the Celebs.

The sales associate knew absolutely jack-shite about guitars.

BTW, Matt Smith & my guitar instructor Richy Stano are getting together to do guitar clinics at all the area Best Buys to promote Best Buy's entrance into the guitar market when Matt comes down to FL in March.

15 years ago we were constantly trying to get product into these type of stores. They'd have none of it.
Yes it sucks and all that but it exposes guitar to many more people than would normally see it. If it creates 1% more guitar players, well that's better than it was. The GCs of the world aren't going for "new" customers.

Makes more sense now with Best Buy being ground zero for the Guitar Hero stuff.

A Matt Smith demo at a Best Buy will sell a TON of guitars. A few might be scared away by what it takes to play the real thing, but just a few.
I'd LOVE to see that demo and watch all the jaws drop in amazement.

I think a demo by Matt of the iDea would have the Best Buy geeks going crazy.

My office computer says that the Bestbuy website is trying to download malicious code.

ANYthing that helps real instruments maintain market share in a world of kids being seduced by Guitar Hero, etc. (how many of US are going to buy Beatle Hero or whatever when it comes out? and go nuts playing along to Revolver for months?)

I'm for it. Get 'em hooked young and they're yours for life. Worked for the Jesuits, works for the pushers, it'll work for guitars.

If some parent buys their kid a celebrity instead of one of those pieces of junk they sell at Walmart or an Esteban, that kid will grow up to be a guitar player, and eventually buy a USA Ovation. The important thing is a celebrity is playable. I say "Good on 'em".
