Joined: April 2004 Posts: 795 Location: Texas | It has been awhile since we OFCers have shared what's playing on our CD players. The last few days on mine: Robert Johnson: "The Gold Collection - 40 Classic Performances", ...I love RJ. John McLaughlin - "The Best of Shakti", ...the original band, my favorite Shakti configuration, with John playing acoustic guitar and with L. Shankar on violin. Awesome. Eric Clapton - "Sessions for Robert J" , ...very well done, and I am enjoying the DVD very much. New Grass Revival - "Too late to turn back now", ...old 70's performance live in Telluride, one of my favorite bands of all time, great! And I am relearning all my parts from my old CDs for the Lara & Reyes reunion concerts. A lot of work! "...oh, can you hear that wind howl..." One just as it sounded that night an another with some studio "tweeks". Warts and all, I'm pretty happy with it. If you want to hear BrianT nail "heart of gold", I'll e-mail the mp3. Also...My live Who disc from the Detroit show in 2000. Also...Unabridged "Lord Of The Rings"

It took a little extra listening to really "get it" because I overdosed on the "Live" Cd... talk about a hard act to follow. This one is good, but listen to it and remember that it's a "studio" album... still worth it IMHO....Jerry really shines on this one!

I'm not sure who's the better soul singer - McDonald or (another of my faves) Marvin Gaye. Love the new AKUS too. And just last week I fell in love with some classic Ray Charles all over again. Can't help it - I just love it all.

The acoustic version makes it a little easier to tab out but I prefer the studio version if I just want to listen to it. It's a rocker and Ann's vocals are amazing!

Tomorrow is "Drunk Bitch Friday" where they bring in a volunteer and give her all she wants of her favorite beverage. After that it can be anything from the Goo Goo Dolls to Sinatra.
