It has been awhile since we OFCers have shared what's playing on our CD players.

The last few days on mine:

Robert Johnson: "The Gold Collection - 40 Classic Performances", ...I love RJ.

John McLaughlin - "The Best of Shakti", ...the original band, my favorite Shakti configuration, with John playing acoustic guitar and with L. Shankar on violin. Awesome.

Eric Clapton - "Sessions for Robert J" , ...very well done, and I am enjoying the DVD very much.

New Grass Revival - "Too late to turn back now", ...old 70's performance live in Telluride, one of my favorite bands of all time, great!

And I am relearning all my parts from my old CDs for the Lara & Reyes reunion concerts. A lot of work!

"...oh, can you hear that wind howl..."

On my CD???? Why....it's ME!!!
Yesterday I got the disc from when BrianT and I played an open mic. Two versions of each song. One just as it sounded that night an another with some studio "tweeks". Warts and all, I'm pretty happy with it. If you want to hear BrianT nail "heart of gold", I'll e-mail the mp3.
Also...My live Who disc from the Detroit show in 2000.
Also...Unabridged "Lord Of The Rings"

serge... I like it alot... It took a little extra listening to really "get it" because I overdosed on the "Live" Cd... talk about a hard act to follow. This one is good, but listen to it and remember that it's a "studio" album... still worth it IMHO....Jerry really shines on this one!

A bit eclectic so don't laugh, ok? Keb' Mo, Gin Blossoms, Stevie Ray (never far from some of dat), Michael McDonald's Motown Revue, Lyle Lovett and Steely Dan's Greatest.

I know...maybe I should up the medication.

I'm a huge fan of both Mikey and the Dan and, yes, I have heard the NY Rock & Soul Review. Many times in fact. Great stuff. I'm not sure who's the better soul singer - McDonald or (another of my faves) Marvin Gaye. Love the new AKUS too. And just last week I fell in love with some classic Ray Charles all over again. Can't help it - I just love it all.

WeaserP, if you like Susan Tedeschi, listen to Deborah Coleman. "Soul Be It" is a live BLUES album, despite the title. Grooves from start to finish.

The Jupiter's Darling CD by Heart. I'm learning one of my favorite tracks 'Fallen Ones'. The acoustic version makes it a little easier to tab out but I prefer the studio version if I just want to listen to it. It's a rocker and Ann's vocals are amazing!

In my car:

Soul Asylum -- "Grave Dancers Union"
Griffin House -- "Lost and Found"
Adrian James Croce -- "Adrian James Croce"
Flogging Molly -- "Swagger"
John Mellencamp -- "Words and Music"
Brian Setzer -- "Ignition"
Counting Crows -- "This Desert Life"
E -- "Broken Toy Shop"
Elvis Costello -- "Spike"
Honk -- "Five Summer Stories"

In the music room:

Paul Westerberg -- "Folker"
J.J. Cale -- "Naturally"
John Hiatt -- "Bring the Family"
John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers -- Spinning Coin
Love and Rockets -- "Earth, Sun, Moon"
Paul McCartney -- "Flaming Pie"

Since I spend a LOT of time on airplanes, I've got the iPod loaded with 527 albums. Lately I've just been going to the song index (which is all songs in alphabetic order) spinning to someplace unknown and then listening for a couple of hours. Pretty cool actually since I get to hear stuff I normally wouldn't pull up.

Mornings are strictly reserved for the Lex and Terry Show. These guys are FM syndicated drive time and are hillarious. Tomorrow is "Drunk Bitch Friday" where they bring in a volunteer and give her all she wants of her favorite beverage. After that it can be anything from the Goo Goo Dolls to Sinatra.
"Fly me to the moon, let me play among the stars."
