Or, 'What came before what came first?' Or, 'Why does cliff type in all lower case and use a lot of ellipses?' Or, 'What prompted W2 to name the first female llama at the factory, "Luverly Luisa"?' See? There is no real answer to, 'What is GAS?' The answer is in the experience. ;) Oh, and there is no spoon.

One of the great dangers with this kind of GAS is that IT CANNOT BE SAFELY CONTAINED! It must be vented and utilized. You must memorize this so you can, without hesitation tell your wife (should you have one) "Honey, the pressure is building, must vent and utilize." Do not let her confuse this with any other form of gas. Are you clear now?

(Come to think of it, those are all the same thing...) GAS is a good thing. There's no known cure, and only one form of management - more guitars. This is merely a support group. The fact that this board appears to aggravate the condition is purely coincidental.

Gotta get the strap and the new Genz Benz acoustic amp. Maybe a nice pedal to go along with it. Pick up a Deacon? Hmmm ... an AC30 would sure be sweet. Ought to have a Rickenbacker to go with the amp. Well, since I've got these guitars, I'll need a nice condenser mic won't I? Aw jeez, now I've got to get a better recording solution. OK, so I'm sounding pretty good ... think I'll play out to see what that's all about. Uh, oh, what I'm I going to do for sound reinforcement? Stage mics, PA, speakers. And stands. The Strat was just too good a deal to pass up. Think I need to upgrade to some Vintage Noiseless. They sure would sound good through a Twin Reverb, which I should really have for the Viper anyway. And since I'm recording, I HAD to have a bass. Which means a Bassman amp, right? Well, maybe an Ampeg too for that vintage sound. And cables, lots of cables. More straps. Wall hangers. Floor boards. Drum machine. Near field monitors. Direct boxes. Convection cooled amp. Strings = String winder. Tambourine for that one bit in the song. Congas, gotta have the congas. And processors! A compressor. Reverbs. MultiFX. Headphones ... good ones. Headphone distribution amp, just in case anyone comes over to play. I'll need stools. Maybe one of those rocking chairs W2 favors. Or two. I sure am looking forward to Week 2 of GAS.

I'm still in the learning stages of guitar playing (2ŽŽŽŽ 1/2 months), but have purchased a Beringher Vampire amp, 6 electric guitars of various brands, a CD guitar trainer, guitar straps, guitar cases, picks, cords, cables, and lessons. I've slowed down on the gear part for now, and I'm concentrating on the learning part. :D

I think it was a 1867 Legend or some other faceless nameless model. I won the auction and waited for the guitar to arrive. When it did, I cleaned it up and went to put it on a hook in the guitar closet. As I went to hang it something caught my eye on the other wall - "Oh Crap, I've already GOT one of these." I sought professional help. Dave

Truth is that I have sold off a lot of guitars in the past 2 years. I actually have many empty stands sitting around. Isn't that against the rules? Sold off all solid bodies, a few storms, several shinys, ukes and a bunch of middle-of-the-pack stuff. Dave
