I prefer the "look" of the Collectors Series 2003 Aniverssary "Book Guitar": with fewer holes on the treble side because of the cutaway... http://www.ovationguitars.com/?fa=detail&mid=965 Sound wise every cutaway ADAMAS I have played has blown me away... (Is there a consensus that the Non-Cutaway is that much sweeter...) The 12 string version I prefer would look more like the original Mellisa Etheridge 1598MERB with the cutaway. http://www.guitartrader.com/bigimage.icl?pid=23097&orderidentifier=ID11172811261568272A6B765E3D&srcdoc=itm%2Eicl%3Fsourcedoc%3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Eguitartrader%2Ecom%26pid%3D23097%2 6eflag%3D0%26orderidentifier%3Dicat%5Forderid The current 12 String Melissa Etheridge 1598MEII has no sound holes on the treble side, but still with the cut-away... Is the 12 string so "bright" that the factory is allowing more bass to come through for a more balanced sound ??? http://www.adamasguitars.com/?fa=series&sid=510 It would HAVE to be a slothead though... I have other custom features but that is the gist of it... Al, maybe we could speak about this off line or preferrably on the phone??? AB

I have ascerted from the beginning that there is a definite lack of 12 string offerings in the celabratory issues. The 12 string is the top of the line instrument of any guitar model. But this is about what AB sees as his custom. Excellent choice AB! Something about the Slothead that just seems right. Don't look in my gallery.

He just can't say anything yet. You wait and see. I have no inside info about this and it's just a hunch, but my track record is good. Just ask Moody. About this time last year he and I were just talking out of the blue and he asked me if I could have any custom made Ovation, what would it be. I said "I would just tell them to go over to the wall in the engineering department and build me an exact replica of the red slothead." How's THAT for a premonition ??? Moody will back me up, it's a true story. Dave

What's really something is that none of these guitars are being touted for their "plugged in" sound. Now O has to work to get the recognition out that their guitars ain't just for the stage anymore. If you build it, they will come. And Witko does not lie (at least not this time). We had the conversation and then laughed our heads off when we learned what O was putting out.

Lauderdale, Florida | I see "Catseye" refers to the sound hole opening shape (and only ONE on the base side at that) Al "played" ((corrected version) I mispoke in the original post and caught Al's dark side...)) one in a 6 string version I assume, here is an excerpt from an earlier post: New Adamas for 05 Well, this new guitar just throws out the classic "old school" adamas look and brings it into the 21th century, it gives you all the features that you would want in an Adamas guitar but with a look that is updated. This guitar will NOT appeal to the purists but I'll tell you what I WANT ONE!!!. What they did was take the LX technology and put it into an Adamas guitar. They made it a single sound hole on the bass side side of the fingerboard that looks like a teardrop, or cat's eye or eyebrow. VERY cool!!! it also uses the new bowl design and the op pro pre amp system. The top was also redesigned so that it is slightly thicker in layers with a cross weave pattern and it has NO FINISH on the top. it is the black color of the natural graphite, so the top has room to breath and vibrate. I had this guitar in my hands for over an hour and I fell in LOVE!! It was the perfect marriage of old and new technology! The guitar was well balanced sounded great acoustically, was very even and would just ring forever. After seeing this guitar I knew that my idea for hot rodding the slothead was not right. Everything that I wanted in a new guitar was sitting in my hands. This guitar may not be for you especially if you are a traditionalist but all I can say is that I want one. Look for this guitar mid year. They have yet to name it but if all goes right they will name this one after me also (LOL) This is all the info I have, no I don't have all price info yet but as soon as I get it I will let you know. There is much happening at the factory these days and some remarkable stuff. If you are interested in any of these guitars be sure to contact me ASAP so I can insure that you get a low serial number. I have a feeling that these guitars will not be around too long. They are all winners in every way. Took me years appreciate the look of the epaulets... not sure if I'll like a single Cat's Eye... But the Engineers must KNOW something by eliminating ANY soundholes (cat eye or otherwise), on the treble side... Sort of goes along with the current Melissa Etheridge 12 there making NOW, (NO sound holes on the cutaway side... Still haven't found any pics, but still looking... AB

Was not meant that way, The CLAIM was in "finding" the email and ASSUMING it was a SIX STRING, not challenging your integrity... just the wrong choice of words, probably also at the wrong time... about a very secret weapon. Correction: Al PLAYED one and wrote of such in a previous e-mail !!! (Better ???) Anyway the QUESTION of lack of treble, sound holes) has been raised twice by yours truly... Since there is NO question you played the feline entity... Al give us your impression of the sound and YOUR guess as to - "WHY NO TREBLE SOUND HOLES ???" Can you compare it with another ADAMAS or the 2005 Colectors Edition, maybe ??? Was the Body, the NEW COTOURED CUT A WAY BOWL or some other incarnation yet to be spoken of ??? (You call it the New Bowl so that's NOT a secret, that it is at least the Contoured CUTAWAY Bowl, Yes ??? AND Better yet, will WE be able to see the lone CATEYE on the tour ??? Can I skip the Hamer tour and go twice around, the Accoustic, that way I can meet the other half of this group, in a most appropriate manner??? Will we see much of the ADAMAS line on the tour ??? You can't tell I am anxious about this one CAN YOU !!! I have sat thru ALL your guys lusting and BUYING of these newly realeased guitars, now there is a chance for my Ultimate 12 String Guitar in the near future to be released and I have permission from the wife to move some finances around to acquire one, custom or otherwise...
