I was kinda waiting for the main camera to focus right into his helmet-cam, so that we might see directly the genius of his timing.

I saw these guys during this "farewell" tour and they were fantastic. Joe Walsh appeared to be brain dead in the first half of the show; then, he rocked the place during the second half. I'll be seeing them perform again in October/November. They may be getting up there a bit in age, but the crowd was a wide mix of ages and types of people. There's an article about them in the current guitar world acoustic magazine where one of them explains why they use Takamines on stage. Among the snobby of the acoustic world, Takamine doesn't get much praise; however, when you see performer after performer (from local bar to huge stadiums) using them you have to give the guitars some credit. Takamine must be doing something right.

Saw the Eagles back in '77 ("Hotel California" Tour). GREAT show!! Don Felder & Randy Meisner were still in the band, and they sang/played everything themselves - no ancillary guitarist/keyboardist/percussionist . . . . The "warm-up" was some up & coming singer/songwriter that was JUST starting to get airplay . . . . . some "Buffett" guy . . .

Never imagined they would come on at 1930 with no support, have a little break halfway through, and then play straight through til after 2230. Stunning sound, proper music, and they really looked like they were doing what the program notes said - playing for the love of it. May new bands today learn something from these cats. (Eagles... whatever!) JB

I miss Bernie....after he left, I lost much of the affection I had for the group. The night I saw them, they had this guy from Illinois opening for them....what was his name???....oh, yeah....Dan Fogelberg...... (I hope Dan is recovering----nothing new on his website, I'm afraid) Roger

As you who know a little about me probably would guess, my son and I used to do a few Eagles songs back when we were country rock. Joe Walsh is the ultimate 70's guitar player, destroyed by the experience, but survived and kept his talent even though he lost his brain. You had to be there to understand, there were too many choices and they all were bad, some of us took the safe road and avoided the hard stuff and became better, some dove into the mix and became victims. Listen to "Snow Blind" by the late Hoyt Axton, a song writer whose mother wrote "Heartbreak Hotel" That song tells the whole story.

Joined: March 2005 Posts: 417 Location: Cicero, NY | Artist: Steppenwolf Lyrics Snowblind Friend Lyrics Words and music by Hoyt Axton You say it was this morning when you last saw your good friend Lyin' on the pavement with a misery on his brain Stoned on some new potion he found upon the wall Of some unholy bathroom in some ungodly hall He only had a dollar to live on 'til next Monday But he spent it on some comfort for his mind Did you say you think he's blind? Someone should call his parents, a sister or a brother And they'll come to take him back home on a bus But he'll always be a problem to his poor and puzzled mother Yeah he'll always be another one of us He said he wanted Heaven but prayin' was too slow So he bought a one way ticket on an airline made of snow Did you say you saw your good friend flyin' low? Flyin' low Dyin' slow
