On March 23, 2005 she appeared as the "musical guest" closing the show. She played her Adamas II acoustic guitar and performed the song "Magazine" from her second CD. Carson Daly invited her to return in early May to appear as his "house band" for three shows. The house band plays to introduce the show, as well as before and after commercial breaks, and to introduce the guests. Just like Leno and Letterman, Carson also interacts with the leader of the band, in this case Kaki. The show's Music Director wanted electric guitars, so she played her Gretsch baritone and Electromatic lap steel, her vintage ES-175 and a borrowed Telecaster. She was accompanied by a drummer friend of hers from Brooklyn. A friend of mine downloaded the shows from his TiVo and burned them onto high quality audio/visual DVDs. I have edited the four shows down to a single DVD+R of 35 minutes. I took out all the commercials, drastically shortened the guest interviews, and took out some superfluous stuff that Carson did. I'm prejudiced of course, but imho it rocks. The shows are in reverse order--that means the last show (May 6) is first on the disk. The shows are in the following order: 1) May 6... Kaki does all the music for the show 2) May 5... Kaki is the house band. The musical guest is the group Erasure. 3) May 4... Kaki is the house band. The musical guest is Ben Folds. 4) March 23... Kaki is the musical guest. She plays the song "Magazine". I plan on sending one to everyone who got the first DVD of her on the Letterman and Conan shows. Anyone else is welcome to email me and I'll send them the 2d DVD, no charge, no strings attached. She had hoped to make it to the Factory Tour, but instead got booked to tour with Eric Johnson that week. Maybe she and I can make it next year. Finest regards to everybody-- Dave King Kaki's dad

Please be patient--it may take a couple of weeks to get them all delivered. Bill, you're right--this should be a fun tour (and professional challenge) for her. HOB is giving them "equal" billing: http://www.hob.com/tickets/eventdetail.asp?eventid=31370 Best to all-- Dave K

I should've checked it out before I posted. It's so dang HOT in south Louisiana right now that the sweltering heat cracked the windshield from top to bottom on my hotshot truck! Stuff like this seriously delays my GAS purchase of a 6758 EliteT! Sigh...

NBC gave the shows a rating of PG 14, and I really can't argue with that. I would suggest that anyone concerned about this issue give the disk a preview before deciding on its suitability for younger children. Dave K.
