Hi,

long time since I have been here the last time - I have been just to busy...

Folks, I need your help. My sister is going to be maried in Sep. Im the family musician and I have to play at the small party after the official stuff at the registry office.

So what are you favorite wedding songs? Im alone just with my ovation and a blues harp.

My personal favorite is "Wedding Song / There Is Love" by Noel Paul Stookey of Peter, Paul, and Mary.

"I Will Be Here" by Steven Curtis Chapman
"I'll Always Be Right There" by Bryan Adams
"There Is Love" Paul Stookey

These are great acoustical wedding songs. I played "There is Love" at my sister's wedding, "I Will Be Here" at a good friends wedding, and will be doing Bryan Adam's "I'll Always be Right There" Aug 6th at my daughter's wedding.

All great songs!

Norse(I suggest a six [classical if you have it] for the Bryan Adam's song, and a 12 string for the other two...fun songs to play as well!)man1

"Run Like Hell" that would be a good one and also some pretty good advice for your sister!

You could try "Can't Help Falling In Love" by Elvis. Especially effective on ukulele (hey, it got me laid on my anniversary)!

How could it get you laid on your birthday when you were in the Netherlands and your wife was in AZ? Aw forget it. I don't think I want to know.

How about Glen Campbell's How Come Every Time I Itch I Wind Up Scratching You?

Seriously, Clint Black's Something That We Do.

"IF" by Bread
"I Love You Just The Way You Are" by Billy Joel

My brother was actually in a wedding where the song was "Pancho and Lefty".

All the federales say
We could have had him any day
Only let him slip away
Out of kindness I suppose

I love the song, but I expect that the mother of the bride would never forgive you.

Start with a little "Cannon in D", in G of course. This is agood finger picking - change tempo and style as the guests are seated and they try to locate the Groom. D-A-Bm-F#m-G-D-G-A repeat.

"I will be here" is great. "There is Love may have been overdone. Try something by KISS!

Whatever song you do .... YOU MUST LOUNGE-A-FY IT!
It's an unwritten rule that when you play at a wedding you have make it sound like you're a regular at the Rainbow Room of the Holiday Inn Express ...
Enjoy and have fun!
Here are some songs that have not been mentioned:
Long and Winding Road
A bootle of red - joel
it's raining men
ymca
locomotion
electric slide
roll out the barrel
Hokey Pokey

My god it's just horrible but the people seem to enjoy them.

And remember you and your band are not the stars. And don't let family members sing, anyone who does forgets that today they are not the center of attention. Even if they have a good voice ... Stop them! The thoughtful members of the wedding party will thank you.

I Will, Lennon & Mcartney... It's on the white album...
Annie's Song, John Denver
I have to say I love you in a song, Jim Croce
Time in a bottle, Jim Croce..

Also the song from Fiddler on the roof...

I've played at so many weddings that I got to the point where if I heard "the wedding song" again I would go crazy...

Some of the cuts I've been asked to play at weddings include The Wedding Song (Paul Stookey), When You Say Nothing At All (AKUS), a few by Richard Marx, Love Will Keep Us Alive (The Eagles) If (Bread) and, believe it or not, Slip Sliding Away (S&G).

Good luck.
