My U681T was returned home to daddy today.

Al had emailed last week and mentioned that while at the OFC tour he had seen my baby and in his words..."It looked steller". Well we all described items differently, so while I was hoping that it came back to me the way Al had described it, I wasn't holding my breath.

Well, Al was wrong. He understated it. It wasn't steller, it was magnificent! This is what I had expected from the mothership when I first placed the order many moons ago. Let me repeat that.

THE GUITAR IS NOW MAGNIFICENT.

When I opened the case, there was a strong smell of resin or some agent, but it was a good smell. The top which had been mottled in appearance was now a brilliant black with gold flakes evenly spaced all over the top. The neck issues were corrected, the binding was perfect.....and the sound (which was never a problem) was to die for.

I don't know who did what, but the guys at the factory absolutely NAILED IT this time.

I know that I bitched and moaned, but that was because I expected the U681T to be what it now is. The boys at the mothership are to be commended for taking the bull by the horns and running with it. They did an outstanding job and I thank them all.

Because of the way this was handled...and the final results....the OFC guitar or #47 are now back on my plate for purchase.

I would like to especially thank Al for sticking up for us, listening to us bitch and whine, and then doing everything within his power to make us happy. I would have never gotten this kind of attention or action from one of the online stores and certainly not from GC or some other chain.

Again, FANTASTIC JOB by the guys at the factory and a BIG THANK YOU to both them and Al for handling this is a professional and incredible way.

Now....I gotta go play! :D

Enjoy your guitar. I still maintain that these are some of the best sounding and playing guitars ovation has ever made

must be that "eye of the beholder" thing, i think they are a work of art. but i am swayed by hearing it in person. I mean, if the house is on fire, this is one of the two that I'm running out first with. it sounds that good. ..........peace mike

I don't doubt for a minute that they're fantastic guitars, but with the bridge moved back I think they look fat. Doesn't seem to work that way with centre hole guitars.

It might grow on me if someone lends me one for a few months.

I agree on the "eye of the beholder" thing.

I happen t'think that the rosette on the CountryArtist is just downright FUGLY, but evidently some people MUST like 'em . . .

I like the look of the UT's.
I like the "compactness" of the 12-fret,
and of course . . . "the sssssssssound" . . .
Darren was telling me that the slight "change" in the shape of the headstock came from "borrowing" a bit of the design element of the old Selmers and applying it to the Ovation/Adamas design.
Nicely Done.

Schroeder,
The pictures just don't do it justice. If you had one in front of you, held it, played it.....

w/o a doubt the credit card or check book would be out!

I am still in star struck every time I take mine out of the case. Once I strum it, I'm just gone. I mean I can't play this thing without saying "WOW" every time. Still hard to believe that ANY guitar sounds this good in my hands!

Alright already.

I'm glad I didn't mention that I've never seen an Adamas guitar I wanted to own. The Lord alone knows what kind of flak that would have sent up.

If it's any consolation I don't like the look of Les Pauls, any dreadnoughts, reverse headstocks, 6-on-a-side tuners on an acoustic or pickguards on just about anything. Humbucker(s) on a strat or a tele can never look right either.

You guys have a go now.

And cliff - I love my Indian Blanket.

Schroed - If you are going to quote someone, please have the decency to get it correct. It's "An Indian blanket being flushed down a toilet". There you have it. Dave

I think the U681T is a very smart looking guitar.

Is the top textured ? I was looking at the big pic on Jeff's site and even then it's difficult to see the top material clearly. Twelve frets to the body does give it a slightly compact look but I like it.

I've never played one though and in fact I don't think any made it Down Under.

Oh well, I'm in the United States in October so Jeff I may pop in for a strum !

it does have as textured top...

...come and see for yourself!

...If you click on the body pic so it comes up in the slide show frame and then click on it again, it will come up full size and you can see the texture really well.....
