I didn't lke the tuner that on the LX when I tried it in the store. I like the one on my S771, op 30 (i think that's what you call it). I'm going to try to get to GC today and check out the LX Balladeer they have and maybe throw it on my GC card. All my life I've NEVER baught on credit (barring a house or car), and here I am with my GAS trying to grab every Ovation my credit will allow.

But after using it for a few months, I find it a lot easier to use and tuning has become faster for me than with the op40's on my Legends. Add the XLR to the OPPro, and wow. This thing just lights up when I plug it in.

Both the Balladeer and the Legend seemded to have a fuller sound and the neck was easier for me to play. Had my mind set on a 2005 but I I think I'll stick with an LX.

I will definetly try to make it up there if I'm off work to watch others play. I like watching and hearing people play acoustic guitar.

Doesn't fit the rosette, looks out of place and totally detracts from the guitars' natural beauty. There oughta be a law...

Talk about a lousy Salesman. I too preferred the LX over the 05 as Willard mentioned. Just a preference. I really want to try an LX 12 string soon.

Might just be my 05 but I find the sound significantly different that the O's I tried out at GC. Personally I think the glass bowl on my 1111 makes an amazing difference. More than any single thing I found playing various other O's(other than perhaps a carbon top).

Joined: May 2005 Posts: 120 Location: Gardnerville, NV | Before I bought my 05 I played it several times over the course of about a month comparing it to a 1777lx. The first time I played both I thought the 05 sounded kind of muffled, not as bright and full. This was within days of it coming from the factory. I really preferred it's appearance and the way it felt but thought the sound was better on the 1777. The next time I thought they sounded close but couldn't pull the trigger for the extra money. The final time I played them both the 05 had been there about a month and there was no comparison. The 05 was brighter, fuller, more bass. I suppose it's possible it was all my imagination since I really wanted the 05, but it seemed to change as it sat in the shop.

IOW, "Ignore that little man behind that curtain over there..." That's hideous - she can't possibly think that it looks "great." (Instant Graemlin puking...)
