Sorry this was intended to be a Private Message but as I've done it now I might as well explain.

My 1680 was sent last week from the Mothership to the shop in S Texas, they sent it on to my family in Boston. It was looking likely to arrive after they left for England :-(
It's been on a 4000 mile round trip whereas Mothership to family is about 90 miles!!! Anyhow I got free delivery so I'm not too bothered.

The FEDEX site says it will be delivered today, in time for them to bring over (another 3000 mile trip). Boy it's not even going to get a rest when it gets here. It's going to be played, and played hard. I can't wait!

Still I'm going to visit my family next year and now I know that the Mothership is so close to then will pay it a visit, so be warned!

Hey Dweezil,
You'll have to look me up on your way as I'm right off Interstate 84 approx 37 miles (approx 100 miles from Boston) from the Mothership. Love to meet you!!! Happy Holidays!!

WILL DO! Happy Holidays to you too...

I have a 97C at the Mothership that needs a new top, been wondering whether I should do it or not or what exactly. As I'm going to be over there I might actually get them to give some KOA action (possibly even a equaleted KOA top!).

HEHEH

Congrats Dweez. I'm glad it worked out so you could get it for Christmas. Don't play the finish off of it.

Santa came good!

WOAH!

My first (and probably last) Adamas. Now that is a thing of great wonder. British Airways flight crew named it "the baby" and the name shall probably stick. So pics of the baby to follow, have to go and restring and reshim it but I can see what all the fuss is about, this is not your average wood top.

It showed up at the Dweez haus. I think he's just too enamored with it to get on the computer. :D I was telling him, I noticed they moved the label to the center of the bowl so it's not under the soundholes, (which is good) and there is no rear hatch, so that might contribute to the great sound. I didn't even notice that with Keith's. I was just happy listening to him play it.

Just a quick note having removed all (two) of the shims and stuck some 10s on it, the nut is very high, think I'll need to get it lowered.

Regards the VIP, the Ovation website says...

"Please refer the configuration insert that came with your guitar to see the mics and guitars used to create the images in your guitar."

But the manual that comes with the 1680 says the same! ARGH!

Dweez, if you go to the Ovation website and click on the VIP 5 link under electronics, watch the video. Rick opens it then Matt Smith goes through all the image types.

AHA! Cool. Still getting friendly with the 1680. My initial findings are thus:

1. It SINGS! Amazing sustain and clarity of tone. Blows away any other guitar I've ever played.

2. The nut width/height is quite different from my Ovations. My fingers aren't used to it and so either I'll need to adjust it (basically lower it slightly) or adjust myself!

3. The neck, oooh, the neck! Walnut and ebony, god bless you Ovation!

Response:
1. I hate to say it, ;) but I told ya so.
2. I agree, I've pulled the shims and did a slight neck adjustment, but I think the nut could use a very little bit of tweaking.
3.Amen to that, the neck is soooo beautiful.

BTW, ya need to change your sig, no longer on Santa's sleigh.....

I'll try and get some pics taken to upset some folks here ;)

Haven't played it thru the AAD CUB yet but it's soo bloody loud it doesn't need an amp!

Everyone ought to own one...

lessened the relief a tad. (clockwise rotation of the TR adjustment about 1/8 turn)

Tell me about it.
When Brian & I practice, and I'm playing my UTE and Brian has his 1680, there at times when our two un-amped vocals are in danger of being overwhelmed.

I had to do a 1/4 turn on my 2008C neck after it hit the West Coast, and that made all the difference in the world. I still have two shims I think, but it still feels quite low with 11's on it. Probably more room to tweak, but good for now.
