Punk and emo is big with the kids, though I hate that music style, and I think the guitarists are all worthless in that genre. The kid guitarists near my age that actually know something about guitars like Randy Rhoads, Zakk Wylde, and Dimebag Darrell. Unfortunately, 2 out of 3 are dead now.

Music has headed in so many directions that it is what you personally want it to be. I don't want to put a label on any artist. My FAVORITE artists ("today's music" be hanged) are Heart("Jupiter's Darling" showed they still have it), Carrie Newcomer and Rory Block. Roger

I'm sure that we all will like different styles of music. What I like, you may not, what you like i may not. Doesn't make one any better than the other, just different. Some of what I see today in all forms of music is not up to the level of some of the classic; Country/Rock/Folk/Pop/ any other style written and performed a few years ago. Granted there are some real performers out there but they are far and few between. P.S. Woody I know who you're talking about.

John Mayer is probably the poster child for what we're talking about here. But Martin has him locked up already. Strangely, though, his signature Martin OM-28s don't seem to sell that well. Dave Matthews would be the best artist for Ovation....Ovations would actually be a BENEFIT to his music, IMHO. (I'm NOT saying his music is bad, just that his sound fits Os) Roger

The object is to make others want to play THAT instrument that THIS player is using. A nice sideline is if the Ovation can actually help them make THEIR mark in music (Glen, Al D. Melissa, etc.)

How about Jason Mraz? The Offspring? Fountains of Wayne? The White Stripes? Yeah Yeah Yeah's? They might be giants? That guy from Soul Coughing? Oh man there are so many. I have to ask my nephew. I'd be interested in knowing who persephone thought was truely popular around the country (and good) I'm sure she has an opinion, before the winter comes ...

Your right on that Roger. One thing I do notice with many of today's acoustic guitarist, they seem to concentrate on pounding rhythms and use the suspended chords a lot. I guess its a generational thing. John Mayer is a very talented guitarist, but his songs suffer from all sounding the same. I would say that U2 is the last of the rock bands, performing interesting music.

OAO, never thought Heart ever lost it. Yea,"Jupiters Darling" is a dandy. IMO, Ann still has the best voice in the biz. Bill
