I'm in the "just one more" boat. It would be nice to have one of everything but that is not practical or affordable. I look at the herd stabled in my living room (5 if I include the uke) and I see one thing missing. A high end, multi-hole Ovation. I don't know exactly which one it will end up to be. The OFC model? :D a U681T??, the '06 koa collectors? I just don't know. That sunburst 1537 we are talking about sure looks nice. But if I felt that it was the one, I would have paid the BIN amount. If this going to be my "last" guitar, I want to make damn sure everything feels right when I pull the trigger.

I have to stay at nine guitars, which is where I am at now....it is "one in, one out". For there to be another, I have to give up something. I just sold my "token all-wood guitar", a Martin 000-16RGT, to get a 1771LX. For there to be another one, it will have to motivate me to sell one of the Os I have now. I see nothing new at present that motivates me in that direction. I have 6 now, and who knows how many more I will accumulate over the years. :D The wife always says I don't need more that one, as I can only play one at a time. Some days I'm more in an acoustic mood, and other days I feel like making some noise and go electric. :D

My much-more-experienced guitarist friend says the final defense to the wife is, "But, dear, I don't have a boat." And, talking to other friends who do have boats, I think he has a good point. Boat ownership seems to require a lot of cash outflow.

In the past 35 years I have "let-go" of just one guitar. That was the Danelectro to buy the Trekker. Heck....I have even grown fond of of the Booted Celebrity!! It sits on a stand right next to my computer desk.

| Joined: November 2004 Posts: 1374 | Have had as many as 12 at once now down to 3 in the house... plus one at the son's, two at the daughter's. there's always room for one or two more... just for a taste of a different flavor for a while. the guitars don't seem to bother Char much... it's the peripherals that pi$$ her off sometimes(most of the time)..amps, heads, cabs, cables, boxes, stands etc.. but then it's hard to keep all your goodies, 3 people, a dog and 3 cats neatly arranged in a storm-damaged 14x70 mobile home. we are trying to find something larger and more solid but since the storms last year housing prices for what wasn't destroyed have went up almost 75% she has gotten used to the picks in the dryer lint trap every load tho. re: another Ovation in my future, one or two more moving in soon. :D God Bless Glenn | ||

Joined: November 2003 Posts: 56 Location: Edmond, Oklahoma | I hope there are more Ovations in my future. Now that I've finally found that they're my favorites in the acoustic world, constantly intrigued by new models. At this time, I'd love to add a Viper, an Adamas, and a 2005 Collector's. But, like other people here, I've finally achieved critical mass. From this point, I have to seriously consider letting an instrument go, in order to bring in a new one. And I'm also attached to all 7 of them... except and not counting the Martin Backpacker, but it doesn't take up much space anyway. Then there are the three electric basses and the mandolin. And dulcimer. And Hammer dulcimer. And Autoharp. And I probably forgot something. Unless my wife decides hanging guitars in the hallway is cool (and I kind of partial to the idea), I'm kind of maxed out on space. Also, there are cases to consider. And I haven't even bought a pro amp yet. Like Glenn says, peripherals add up, too. And I've barely scratched the possibilities there.

Joined: September 2005 Posts: 3619 Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | I just want to upgrade everything I have to Adamas. The only Standard Ovations I'll hang on to are my 1537 and 1879. As it stands, I still need to replace the 12-string and the acoustic bass, and maybe add an Adamas I or II side-by-side, THEN I should be happy.
