Thanks to inspiration from Brad and the great OFC Calendar project, we (actually me) have decided to give the OFC CD another go. The first time around got a little tied up in red tape and I got the OK from the admins to try to do something a little less professional, yet hopefully still something we will all value. What I'm talking about here is more of a home-grown kind of effort.

Anyway, all the details are on this here webpage:

OFC CD WEB PAGE

Basically it'll work like this: You send me your songs in some workable format (.wav) and I'll do a little fix'n'mix. Due to some legal issues we can't use a professional producer so I've got to do the producing myself, that way we can record whatever we want to without all that copyright mumbo-jumbo. The finished CD will be FREE to OFC members (just pay for the blank disc and postage).

Like I said, all the info you need should be on the website so get going. Here is a little inticement for you. Right now the entire CD playlist is FULL. That's right, 23 songs of ME playing ukulele. Every song you submit is one more ukulele song that gets deleted. Get busy.

Email me of you have any questions. dave@ovationgallery.com

I am totally lame when it comes to this stuff ... if I sent you a regularly recorded CD of a tune would that work? My recording setup is pretty damn antiquated.

Or ... post instructions on how to make a WAV file from a regular CD file?

Holy Jesus!!!!!

I now must take the digital recording setup that my grandson gave me out of the suitacase and record some decent songs to save our web site.

I am sure I am wrong, but I had visions of Dave emulating Tiny Tim as he produced his ukelele excrement and put it on OUR CD.

I am going to work immediately to save our ass. In the next few weeks I will submit versions of obscure ABBA songs that failed to make it but are "artistically" significant. One is titled, "Why Does a Viking Fart Make You want To Dance", The other is "Our Various Wives, and husbands, Want Your DOLLARS".

That should go a long way to save our web site.

Good God in Heaven, the apocolypse has arrived.

(By the way, thanks for taking the horns, Dave. Like the calendar, this really has little choice but to be very cool.)

23 songs of uke music?! Why the liability alone, is too staggering to even conceive.

This may even inspire me to record again.

I've had a few emails about formats.

Audio CD - If you already have your songs on audio CD that's fine. Just send me a copy of the CD.

MP3 - OK. But the quality is usually lower.

Minidisc - OK.

DAT - NO. I don't have a DAT player.

Cassette - If you must. I'll do what I can with it. Better than submitting nothing at all.

UPDATE: 4 members have responded that they will submit songs. That means (assuming they come through), that we're down to 19 ukulele numbers. Keep up the good work. Dave

I will gladly contribute to anything that will act to reduce the number of 'dangerous' uke emissions in the atmosphere. I read they cause global warming. Or maybe it was the players. I forget. Anyway, I'm in!

Of course you assume the ones who already said they are "in" will not be submitting uke tunes ??? Remember, Only banjos and rap were banned. Actually, If someone comes up with a rap song performed on banjo I will make an exception. Dave

well, . . there y'go, the gauntlet has been thrown.

Tim Chapman is now busy turning his baseball cap sideways and lowering his pants to where he nearly trips on 'em . . .

. . . it won't be long now . . .

Banjos and rap were banned???

There goes my rap version of "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" that features the dancing baby doing break dancing while the band cakewalks left and right and the master of ceremony does a cheerleader flaming baton twirl.

Hey Bailey;

I would love to hear something from you to show us wippersnappers (relatively speaking, anyway) a thing or three.

Nooooooooooo!

I'm really sorry for every untoward, off color, or otherwise inappropriate remark I've ever made about ukes and the men(?) who play them.

There was a question if I could work with submitted files in MP3 format. Answer is YES.

Dave, would you prefer WAVs as data files, audio tracks (which you have to rip), or don't care?

Doesn't matter. I guess data file is easiest for me, but no big deal. One submission is arriving on cassette, that's life. Like I said this is a "grassroots effort", any and everything is welcome.

BTW, unofficial ukulele track count is down to a dangerously low 17.

Dave, What sort of music are you wanting to put on the CD? Instrumentals, covers, originals, flamigos, singing, bluegrass, or whatever. Is there a theme, or an idea, or are you just going to pick out stuff you like, regardless of genre? I am not too clear on your target, or goal. I'm looking forward to hearing the members' efforts. It's great that you have the inititive to get the ball rolling. Cheers, Buck

I am rapidly learning every song I ever knew as a 'lectric Viper production even though they started life as acoustic folk/bluegrass songs.

17 ukelele songs could destroy civilization as we know it and create an alternTIVE REALITY THET FEW WOULD SURVIVE WITHOUT NYLON STRINGS.

I CAN'T TAKE THE CHANCE
