In the middle of this is some pictures of adamas custom shop guitars. If you doubleclick you can enlarge it and see more detail. One on the left is kind of cool. Also gives you a feel for what is happening at NAMM.

| Always heard great things about the NAMM shows from a friend who was a regular. Maybe there's an OFC member at the show who will post the Ovation/Adamas displays for us... |

Location: NJ | If it were open to the public, it'd be a total CattleCar and none of the exhibitors'd be able to write any business.
Right now, I'm working (simultaneously) on a diamond show, a stationery show, an eyewear show, a giftwear show, a jewelry show, and a fancy food show. All of these are open to the "trade only" and have stringent requirements to admission. If they allowed the public, they be spending a goodly amount of time policing the booths to ensure nothing gets ripped-off, fielding questions from those who are "just looking", or perhaps MIGHT buy one unit, taking time/attention away from those looking to do BUSINESS, and allowing public access would probably quadruple the amount of traffic on an already overcrowded exhibit floor thereby causing legitimate attendees to shy away . . .
SOME shows do offer one "Publc Day", but Security/CrowdControl (post9/11) is a nightmare.
We just opened the NewYorkMotorcycle Show this weekend, and it's a mass of leather-clad human(?)ity lined-up around the corner to get in - mostly gawkers/wannabees who'll probably only "buy" from the accessory/trinket FleaMarket down in the lower level. I have an AccessBadge, but I tend to stay far away.
The REAL "fun" comes when the plastic surgeon's convention comes to town and you have to work out the logistics of the delivery/handling of plastic containers of severed cadaver heads used for procedural demonstrations . . .
. . . ahhh, "ShowBiz" . . .
Your best bet MIGHT be a large, "regional" guitar show, but those oftimes tend to be used/vintage FleaMarkets. |

Location: Marlton, NJ | Steve - I went to a show in Reading, PA - they had new, used, vintage, parts, everything. It wasn't that big, so it really only took 1/2 a day to see all of it. It was worth it though and they did have some decent O stuff. StuartMiller picked up his Mandacello there. I got some good parts.

If there's a Carolina guitar show in Charlotte this year I could check that out. I guess the exhibitors do shows on a full-time basis. Be interesting to see how many O's and A's show up.

What I found interesting is that Ovation is really getting into shiny bowls. The guitar in the glass case is a 2080 that was hand painted.... the price tag was $10k.
The guitar that Witko is holding is whatever the Ute became, but it's got a shiny bowl that's got all kinds of sparkle in it.
There was also a 2080 with a shiny contour bowl.
Interesting stuff. If you really want to see what the Adamas Custom Shop can do, call for their catalog. When you order a guitar, you can mix and match to your hearts content. |
