I know of at least two members who are anxiously awaiting definitive news about this model.

What definitive? It's a done. It's happening as we speak, it doesn't get any more definitive than that.

I'll tell you, making the commitment for this guitar scares me as I'll be paying for it for several years.

But I honestly think it will be worth it, and I'm going for it.....

Definitive, as in, how much will it cost, how much is needed to confirm placement of an order and obtain a place in line? It may very well be happening behind the scenes, but as a potential buyer, I'm still awaiting an official PM regarding the final details and the requirements necessary to place an order. The last PM received indicated that the final details had not yet been sorted out. Just speculation, but I suspect this may have more to do with the OFC sale package than the guitar itself.

Once the answers to your original set of questions is posted -- probably have a few more -- or not?

And i hope this is not going to be one of those "board politics" issues dealing with what Al can and cannot post on his own freaking forum. This is the OFC guitar for crying out loud. If we can't discuss this openly on the OFC forum then it is a sure sign the PC police have finally moved us to the brink.

Sigh

Greg, I think you hit the nail on the head. I wouldn't count on an open discussion. This is no longer a forum where you can learn about all the custom and/or collectable guitars to be had. Als or otherwise. Sad but true.

I'd say if you are in the market for one of these guitars, you'd better initiate the conversation with Al yourself. He's always been very responsive to me when I've asked him the types of questions asked above.

Sounds like I better tell my wife to hold off on that big screen TV for Valentine's day. Or she can just get her half. That would be about a 20 inch TV.

Good thinking, Mark. No sense in her holding off too.

It's amazing I've stayed married as long as we have. If raising 2 kids and building a house didn't push us over the edge, I doubt a really expensive guitar will.

Mark, the OFC guitar is already costing me a complete remodel of the master bedroom, the costs of which already exceed my estimate of what the OFC guitar will cost. I'm just banking some chits so that when she sees yet another new guitar hanging in the studio, she won't be too quick to criticize my own selfish indulgence.

I'm willing to help you out with that Prof and hang a deep-bowl Adamas in my living room. That way you don't have any extras in the studio to attract the attention of the Mrs. I'll even come to your house and swing a hammer or help paint the bedroom to "pay" rent on them.

On second thought, the minute my wife saw another expensive toy in the house she would throw me and YOUR guitar out the door onto the lawn.

Todd, the wallpaper came off three weeks ago (what a stinkin' mess) and I've been repairing drywall ever since. The new texture goes up this weekend followed by not yet selected paint (there will be no less than three layers applied over a base color to provide just the right faux "look" of an Italian whatever). You'd best not offer any assistance unless you're serious. Personally, I told her that I thought what the bedroom really needed was to replace some of the candles and artwork with a few neon guitar signs. That was met with a look of complete disdain followed by about six hours of silence. You'd think I'd learn.

As somebody just told me, in marriage you can be happy or you can be right. I did the new carpet trade last year that should have covered the OFC guitar, but that might have been before the Ute and the 30th Anniversary CL. I need to keep better records. My wife really wants a new house and we don't need the room we have, but all the smaller houses she looks at cost more than what ours is worth. If we downsize, I'll probably lose the guitar room and a big garage. I'm running out of stuff to trade.

Paul, sell your house. Use the money to buy my house. I'll move to a trailer park and we'll both have enough money left over to buy all the guitars we want. All I need is that you let me keep mine at your new house and use my old garage once in awhile. And I might have to stay in the guest room for a few years after my wife kicks me out of the trailer.
