pardon me for asking, but i'm always wanting to say "thx ovation guys" or "hey you guys", but i dont want to be Ovationally incorrect.....are there any women in the club??? i've only seen threads from the guys so far. i'm sure there are female members, but if not, i think we oughtta round up melissa etheridge and nancy wilson as members. i lost count of how many times i've seen Heart, after 15, and Nancy always sends me home wondering "how can i let a woman show me up like that?" she has amazing technique and moves. in her earlier days i've seen her play lots of O's. any other Heart or Lovemonger fans in the club?????? Don't know much about their more recent project, but I think Heart is great. I remember reading an article in GP when they were in their heyday, in which Nancy Wilson said she pretty much stayed in the shadows as she didn't play as well as the guys. I've since heard her play. She either has gotten a whole lot better or was downplaying her talent in that interview.

Hello;
I'm a regular on the board; read almost every day, but don't post a lot--maybe once a week or so. To paraphrase Abraham Lincoln, "I'd rather keep my mouth closed and be thought a fool than open my mouth and confirm it." ;)

When we use the term "guys" here it's only in the generic sense.

I know of some female members here. But they don't spend as much time posting because they're too busy cooking and cleaning and stuff like that. And getting the slippers and newspaper for their husbands. Right guys?

I have to share a funny observation. I've got a group of guy friends around the neighborhood. Surprisingly none of them play guitars. But we go mountain biking together, go to football games, share some beers. All that typical guy stuff and we're all brazen and macho as hell when we're together and talk all kinds of guy smack. But then every so often we'll have a neighborhood family picnic or something including the wives. And sure as hell, the guys will all cower and huddle in the corner of the yard like little puppies afraid to make any eye contact with our wives. We talk in whispers and jump at the slightest oppotunity to help out the wives in any way we can. It's the funniest freaking thing you've ever seen. Of course we never admit or discuss it afterwards. I'm a HUGE Heart/Lovemonger fan....been to see them here in concert two of the last three summers (they weren't here in 2005). Hope to see them again this year.

Doubt you'll see Nancy or Ann play Ovation onstage anymore....Nancy seems to have gone to Takamine or Martin, and Ann has gone to Rainsong. Nancy does have a couple of Ovations in her composing room, though, and Ann has a pair of Ovation 12-strings.

The women probably have Real Lives. Y'know? Remember...

OR They just sit back (like Karen) and watch the boys be silly. Which is good. Cuz if the dudes knew that the chicks were watching, they would be really silly then.

Jewell is the name of one of her guitars. Gender bias here, but do women seem more likely than men to name "things"?

"Jewel" is my Custom Elite 868 LX; she really is the jewel of my stable. Her name is based on a verse of Scripture. All of my herd have names; they seem more personable that way. An upside is I never need to worry if I've forgotten which model prefix goes with whom, and my friends know them by name.
(I have also been known to name other people's guitars, too--just ask Robbie.)
