I was in my local Guitar Center last week and they had a 1995 Balladeer, all acoustic, for sale. Since I own an all-acoustic 1972 Balladeer, S/N 001697, I picked it up and played it for a few minutes. It was barely the same guitar as mine. The first difference, is it felt like it weighed about twice as much, even though I'm sure that's an exageration. Second, the neck was entirely different ... gone is the slender, fast neck that I love so much.

The changes are dramatic, but it is still labelled a 1111. Just curious ... does anyone know when the dramatic change came to pass?

Am I the only one here that suspects that certain members have archives of picture files all nicely organized and sortable for any occasion? At the drop of a hat they can reach in to the files just like a quick draw shooter pulling his sidearm from the holster and almost instantaneously display the needed visual proof for any occasion.

I'm guessing you have a TRC on your '72. That guitar would have a more traditional neck w/ truss rod. The '95 has a Kaman Bar in the neck. Do some searching around and you'll find a pic. The bar was large and, though made of aluminium, it was heavy. It made for a VERY stable neck and bolted well to the bowl.
The bar required a change in the neck profile to allow for the depth of the bar. If you try to remove much of the "vee" in the neck you hit aluminum (UK: aluminium).
With the arrival of the new neck design there's no more Kaman Bar (I'm guessing there's one in cwk2's basement), and a shallower neck profile is back.

You caught me, Dave. You are spot on. I have a HUGE archive of photos which I can draw on anytime I need a suitable picture to make a point or perhaps amuse you.

I call it Google Images.

Now that you can pronounce it properly, we'll have to work on your spelling.....

though it's even more accurate to pronounce the 'min' as the stressed sylable....

Forgot to mention, dvd's neighbor's car looks EXACTLY like my first car, a 1964 1/2 hardtop. Maybe now I know what happened to it????

I read that Mustang sales are down 16%.
They are going to bring back "British Racing Green" to help boost sales.

Stick? Stuck maybe. Looks like he's trying to birth a baby calf out of the tailpipe.

Of course it was a stick.
That was a damn fine little car.

They hope the green will remind you of the Steve McQueen thing.
