Although I love The Who's "Pure & Easy" after the 6th "there once was a note....listen", I'm ready to say enough already.... end it.
Do they do this just to make the song fit into radio airplay standards?
We counted them one day and I think that Eddie Rabbit "Loves a Rainy Night" something like 47 times.
Or... maybe I have the attention span of a 6 year old. |

Location: Cherry Hill, NJ | Brad you're just paying attention. Actually I think there is a hypnotic hook with the repeating verses that stick in your mind. Part of the formula for some hit records. In the old days they had to do it without copy and paste. |

I think a song should be 7-8 minutes maximum. Anything more is just playing around for no reason. |

Location: south east Michigan | Brian & I do "Share The Land" (Guess Who). We don't even try to copy the extended jam type ending. Without being a full band it's hard to keep the mojo up for that long. If we start getting bored anybody listening will surly be tired of it, too.
On the flip side, if you want to do a long ending to a song, the absolute perfect example of the way to do it right is... drum roll please .......Layla. |
