I came home yesterday to find that this happened to my 1537:

I think that the factory can fix this, but I'm unwilling to pay for it.

Anybody want to make me an offer before I list it on eBay?

The factory can definitely fix it. the exact same thing happened to my 1868 Elite. Sent 'er back and got it done.

But mine was under warranty, so I don't know what it would cost.

Sorry Mitch, I didn't add my condolences, I remember how I felt, sick to my stomach.

That sucks, here's hoping it ends well.

Mitch,
I emailed my condolences and then with bottom feeder speed added my request for pictures and what you need to get out of this. My work server won't allow the pics.

I had Markley Alchemy Gold's .012-.054 and the guitar was tuned to E.

Don't let this cause widespread panic. It looks like a glue failure that showed up after 24 years. I doubt that one in a million guitars are detuned after they are played. Mine are always left at concert pitch and the Matrix has been that way for 30 years.
This is just a very unfortunate, rare occurrence.

i was just asking, i doubt that 12-54 strings could do this damage.

Mitch, that is a sad thing. I think you should find out what it will take for repairs before you make any decisions.

mark,
i didn't mean to ask if mitch de-tuned it to relieve stress. when i read that he had it tuned to E, i was thinking open E and if he had just done that the night before. pardon me.

did the finish cracks occur at the same time, mitch, or were they already there?

The strings had been on the guitar for about 4 months. I played the guitar on Tuesday and found it like this Wednesday.

I don't think that it would be prohibitively expensive for a factory fix. $450 or so.

I just don't want to fix it. It was at the factory just last year for a neck re-set and re-painting of the bowl.

If nobody here makes me a decent offer, it will go to eBay with a starting bid of $100.

Tell Keller the bowl paint obviously weakened the bridge glue.

that would make more sense than the neck reset causing too much tension on the bridge!

$450?
send it to Poland, my luthier would repair it for at most $100.
