It's, quite simply, "JB". JB

Joined: October 2006 Posts: 5576 Location: big island | you're correct, nils. i only did a cursory glance of the lyrics and saw how whoever posted the lyrics on the website i visited botched the spelling of several hawaiian words. i downloaded the song yesterday and john mentions other authentic hawaiian words: aloha, wahine, ukulele, hula and puka. however, he does take many linguistic liberties throughout the song, making it comedic as he intended. "tiki" is not a traditional hawaiian word. the song is a good one and typical john prine. surprises me i never heard it before.

I slip in a "huma-huma-nuka-nuka-apu-a-a-shish boom ba-a" when I sing it. I can never remember how the last bit goes but I can remember the little fish with the long nose. I spent two weeks in Kona back in the '80's. Incredibly beautiful place you live in. I would have stayed but I'm a body man & I hate fixing rusty cars. Btw Lanaki, I watched your video clip & you're playing is very good indeed. You are both impressive to watch & enjoyable to listen to.

"rusty" is the most popular car color here. you would definitely have job security. thanks for the props regarding my video clip. i should probably redo the video under better circumstances though. i was rushed and anticipating delivery of four of my grandkids for me to babysit, which is why i kept watching out the window.

They know because they can see them work from outside the car through the hole where the outer door skin used to be. Radio antennas look right at home duct taped to the windshield too. :) On the other hand I think of Kona every time I eat one of these black shriveled up egg shaped things that pass for avacados here. I developed a real taste for star fruit too but it's *very* rare here.
