Joined: April 2007 Posts: 41 | Hey guys, I'm a newbie with ovation stuff,...maybe not even a newbie yet because I haven't even received my first ovation yet,...but I think I've caught GAS even though I don't even truly know what it means nor what the acronmyn stands for....All I know is that I really recently purchased an Elite 1778T from Al...and I started going crazy over it,...reading like every post on this forum that contained '1778T',...but now, I've just been looking at all these other nice ovation guitars like Adamas's...and I want them so bad. All i think about are these sweet guitars...constantly on ebay and online surfing and looking at these nice guitars.. Do i have GAS? What does GAS stand for? I don't even know why I'm like this...I haven't even received my 1778T yet(my first decent guitar)

It takes many forms such as; Vintage GAS, Slothead GAS, Adamas GAS, Baritone GAS, Solidbody GAS, etc. Personally I prefer the Wannabe Luthier GAS. Here's a shot of what I just brought home. What problem? Anybody want to help me unload the truck...

It is just plain black because I lead in church sometimes and would get killed if i brought a flaming guitar onto stage=) Unfortunately, I am at school now and will not even get to touch my guitar until April 9th...feels like such a long time away. For now, I have a bunch of homework, exams, and finals,...and because of this GAS thing, i havent been doing any of it=/ blah..

We admitted we were powerless over GAS—that our lives had become unmanageable (without another guitar). 2. Came to believe that a collection of guitars greater than our own could restore us to sanity. (yeah, Right!) 3. Made a decision to turn our will and credit card numbers over to the care of AL as if we understood him. 4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of our guitars, and how much fun they are to play 5. Admitted to CWK2, to ourselves and to another OFC Member the exact nature of our GAS. 6. Were entirely ready to have AL put us down for a Lost Art Vintage model when they're available. 7. Humbly asked Him to hold our checks until after payday, and not to tell out wives. 8. Made a list of all persons we had given GAS to with our guitars, and became willing to help advise them on their next guitar acquisition 9. Made direct efforts to help such people (with the OFC, AL, Ebay links, etc)wherever possible, except when to do so would jeopardize an amazing deal on a guitar we've been waiting years to get our hands on. 10. Continued to take a personal guitar inventory and when we had GAS promptly sought/traded to fulfill it. 11. Sought through the OFC, Al, and Ebay to improve our collection (even if that means trading and selling off a few guitars to make room for something new), hoping only for knowledge of a great deal when we see it and the assets to acquire it without hassle. 12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to WOOD BOX guitar players, and to practice these principles in all our affairs. Amen.

Blemished, broke and such but excellent for small projects and barbequeing Salmon. It was a little overboard but it cost the same for a few as it does for the pallet load. And I'm cheap.

I was playing with several old timers with their Martins and such and one commented "Your guitar sure is loud" this unplugged. I have played several times with another fellow who has a D35 and I just can't hear the difference.

Print t-shirts, coozies, calendars, coffee cups, etc. I know of about 6000 people that will be interested. Then there will be Gas for Gas products, it will be called GAS Aquisition Syndrome. By now we all know you have GAS and what it means. It is like the common cold, except permanent. There is no cure, but the symptoms are treatable, at substantial cost. New treatments come out annually. There are a few additional symptoms or stages of the illness that haven't been mentioned: Taking pictures of your guitar(s) and posting them on this board even if you are computer illiterate; Expanding the room for your guitars rather than sell guitars to fit the room; Trying to define categories of Ovations so you can have one of each category, once you realize that there are more models than you could possibly collect; Buying at least one of each bowl depth; Becoming conversant in model numbers and abreviations for models; Going to visit other OFC members hundreds of miles away; and finally, Joining a bunch of sickoes at the factory tour. We are a bunch of sickoes. Welcome.

Unfortunately she also says that you are all Evil people and that I should go back to the Chess website where I belong. (It's Free) I don't agree. Eight definately isn't enough. Any tips on where good hiding places might be, And how to get the UPS delivery past her? She's pretty smart too.
