I remember all of that*.

When Bonanza and the FBI came on TV, they told you that they were in COLOR! Cuz everything else was in B&W! (Everything on OUR TV was B&W)
The Wizard of Oz was on every year (with limited commercials), and everybody watched it, Again.
A VW was $1399, and a Chevy Malibu was $2000+/-.
Big Mac, Fries, and a Shake, and change back from your dollar!

*(It's the seventies I don't remember. )

I can remember selling gas for $23.9 per gallon during gas station wars in 1967/1968. An empty VW bug could be filled up for just a little over two bucks. Many old folks came in and asked for a dollar's worth, then would run a week on it. A gallon of milk cost four times more than gas.

Hmmm... most of those movies are still among my favorites - and It's A Mad, Mad, Mad World is still as funny as anything that has been put out since.

I was born in 1960 and the sixties were a great time to have early musical influences and interesting drama in the news. The most striking thing I remember was the the daily casualty reports from Vietnam on the evening news. Then the crowning achievement to me was Apollo XI. I had Buzz Aldrin come over to the house to visit and talk to me about what it was like traveling to and walking on the moon. My mom was good friends with his sister. Wow... what a decade!

Funny how we mostly remember the good and forget the bad? Not trying to rain on the parade, just an observation.

Because therapy takes care of most of the bad..... and marijuana helps with the rest.

Bill - what's the fun in remembering the bad?

I'll throw a bad out there - those stinking gas lines - especially going to or coming home from Jones Beach in long island. Driving in my friends Impala with no AC waiting in line for seemingly hours - long enough that we could get out of the car and hang outside for awhile.

The good side of course was going to Jones Beach pretty much every day in the summer with friends.

The bad?
Does that include not being able to leave science class for at least five minutes after the end of class because your science partner had the largest breasts in school and smelled sooooo good? And even then, having to 'hide' behind your textbooks?

I had to give a presentation in chemistry class and all the girls were on the front row of the lab. One sported the nicest cleavage that was very distracting. Found out that her recent "endowment" was because she was pregnant.

Thanks, Nils
That is cool.
I remember all of the fifties stuff!
One of the things I remember from the 60's was listening to my car radio and a reporter was alongside a tank or APC on the streets of Detroit, the tanker was firing his .50 cal at rooftops where some guys were shooting down at them.

Daily body count from Vietnam, "Today xxx number of the enemy was killed."

I graduated from high school in 61, married in 63.
Believe me, the 50's were better, not perfect, just better.

Disco STILL sux!
Go to a concert with a nice pipe... Pass the pipe... Come home with a better one.
Go to Vietnam Protests, hoping for a riot. It wasn't a success if they didn't break-out the mace! (screw that wimpy pepper-spray... CS gas!)
No AIDS, so you could Love The One You're With... Ahh, yeah... I remember alittle.
Although, I did go to the Watkins Glen, NY concert... The Band, The Allman Brothers, and The Dead. 650,000 People! After The Band played, I don't remember a thing. But I woke-up in a tent with a 30 year-old Hippie-chick, and don't remember getting there.
"Hey Little Brother... You look messed-up. Here, smoke this, drink this, eat this. There you go, you'll be alright now!" (I was like, 16)
Watkins Glen 1973

Your point is well taken, the 70's were better.
