"Songs that changed the world"? Really? The world is a different place because of a Britney Spears song? Maybe their world, but not mine.

Now, if Al Gore had never invented the internet? THAT would could have altered the course of history and the world as we know it... Dave

"Fell In Love With a Girl" for example. Big deal. I don't understand what could possibly be considered noteworthy about it.

No Johnny Cash? How about I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry by Hank? I would also think We Are The World would have to be way up there given it's impact. Maybe this is why my suscription lapsed ... BTW Jeff, I like your #41.

If Julie Brown had never written and recorded "Earth Girls Are Easy", they never would have made the movie, and I wouldn't know. and that's a bad thing...

If he hadn't invented the internet, we wouldn't all be on these computers all day, there would be a lot less heat generated by the computers and we wouldn't have global warming. I bet he planned the whole thing so he'd have something to do after he won the election.

Along with Cash and Williams, how about "Jerry Lee Lewis(AKA "The Killer"), Buddy Holly, And whole bunch of others.

They also didn't say "improved" the world or any indication of the affect other than change. Although most of the instances were before my time of paying attention to such things, I do see several that affected or caused censorship, or inspired political conversation etc... They also don't indicate "great" change, just change. Now it can be argued we all affect the world in some way, but I'd guess John Lennon (and Yogo) doing thier sleep-in affected more people than me mowing my lawn.

This just supports my theory that Rolling Stone is written by a bunch of 19 year-old college drop-outs whose idea of "research" is to use Wikipedia and then spend the other 7 and 3/4 hours of their working day on their PSP's
