I lost the woman I love and lived with two days ago. She was released from the pain and struggle after three years fight with the cancer. This may be a too deep and serious matter for this forum, but I wanted to tell you all that you've been part of my way of coping with the sorrow and despair I've had. Having some ways to keep my mind on other things than her illness have given me strength to care for her and help her through. I've always used my guitar as some sort of therapy for loneliness and depressive feelings, and being here among equals (I believe) is one way to keep my spirits up and being able to go on. Thanks!

Erik,

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, but glad that this community was able to provide some measure of comfort and relief. I know, at least in part what you have gone through, having lost my Mom to cancer 1 year ago next week.

Stay in touch and reach out as you feel the need. I'm sure you'll receive all measures of support, at least as much as a virtual community can give. The folks here, those I've met and those who I only know through their words, are a large group of great people.

Brad

Erik,
I know somewhat of the pain and sorrow you are going through, and our prayers are with you. Although you may not have met many, or any of the people here, they are some of the most supportive and caring people you will find. We are all linked together, not only by our love for the instruments, but by our love for each other. Stay in touch, and God bless.

This is what I feel as well, and the very reason I posted this topic in the first place. I'll stay here, and know that the OFC and my dear old Ovation will be important helpers for me in my sorrow.

Erik you are in our thoughts and prayers. I am very sorry to hear about your loss. The OFC is a community filled with many caring people who wish you well. There may not be much we can do, but we can offer a little comfort, our prayers and some distraction from what you're dealing with.

Take care.

So sorry for your loss. Nothing we can say or do will change this. But know that we all have you in our hearts.
An older preacher once told me, "It is a sacred trust when people allow you into their lives during the most joyous and most tragic times."
I have found that to be true.
We are honored that you feel you can open your heart to us.

I've walked where you are now, Erik; there will be many bittersweet things in your life as you go on--and it may not always seem like things are getting better, but I can promise you that they will get different. My Jack is only a memory away--the music he loved brings him close to me again. (I'm actually doing a concert with the fellows in his bluegrass group this Saturday--I've healed enough that I can, now.)
Just as my guitar has helped me in those times of overwhelming loss, yours will help you, too.
Know that my prayers are with you as you walk through this valley of loss.
Here is a heart-felt hug,
--Karen
