I've been with this company for over six years - I started out with a startup out of Canada, and we were acquired three years ago by this company. Hopefully, I'll get a decent severence package to tide us over until I find something new. So if anyone knows of any Sales Engineer openings... I'm your man! It could be worse, right? As long as I can keep the wife calm, I'll get through this in one piece.

It's sure to cause a chain of promotions for a bunch of people. If you end up moving up this way I'd be happy to stow your parts and pieces! Hope it all come together Mike

Wow, I'm sorry to hear this news but the company that can't recognise a quality employee when they have one doesn't deserve to have you! Hang in there and we'll be keeping this and your family in our prayers my friend...Shine it on and move ahead; better days are coming... Blessings...

She's right. But I always remember the words of my dad... "Job security is not having a job you can always count on, it's knowing that you can always find work." He was right....

Enjoy your break and don't let it get to you.

My wife is finally taking the big plunge. After 30 years of bookkeeping and accounting she's going to train for 2 months to become a custom brassiere maker. (not brazier) If there's something you've always wanted to do, this is the time to go find out... ..............................................

As I look back it was one the best things that happened to me. I haven't made the $$$ I was making then but found out, I didn't need it. God never closes one door without opening another one. Like the other guys have said. Grab a guitar write a song and laugh all the way to the bank. The view is always bigger looking through the windshield than the rear view mirror.

You've done both here. Better times straight ahead.

Is there room in the class for one more?? To paraphrase George Costanza "two cups in the front, two loops in the back....". A sales engineer is someone who does twice the work and makes half the commissions. Thanks for the kind thoughts. I will definitely take this opportunity to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. Is it too late to become an astronaut? Moody - I've been in this industry for over 20 years now, and haven't felt secure for the last 15. I've been in companies that have gone bankrupt, been acquired, and simply shut down. Your Dad was spot on... knowing you can find work makes all the difference.

The major part of my job is somewhat specialized, and not in that great of demand in this part of the country, so this is in the back of my mind a lot. As we say here, "ALL telecoms suck!". ...but it's hardly ever the sales engineers' fault. Fill... I can only assume you were volunteering for the mannequin position.
