However, Anything Eurythmics has worked in this house for... well, a couple decades anyway. If you come to the door and hear Annie Lennox, go home. No one's answering the door.

I slowed it way down, broke the cadence and sang in my upper register. I used a reel to reel tape recorder to work on my arrangements, and there was a tape of this one in the pile. It wasn't until years later that I found out my room mate used to bring girls to the apartment while I was playing gigs and would put on my tape of this tune to get them in the mood. THAT son of a bitch scored using MY damn tape. What really pissed me off is that it never occured to me to do the same thing.

Some songs bring back outstanding situational recollections such as I Dreamed a Dream and God on High from Les Miserables. Unchained Melodies, a number of songs from Bobby Vinton, In My Room by the Beach Boys, Angel Baby by Rosie and the Originals, and Herman's Hermits version of The End of the World were car favorites. That was one of the advantages of coming to age in the 1960's. The cars were huge and nobody cared anything about 8 track tape piracy. Nowadays, it is romantic classical music and light Italian arias. That's what happens when you wed a classically trained operatic singer.

Maybe that explains the slump I had in the late 90's... then again, I would rather not "make-out" than subject myself to a looping Kenny G wafting in from the background... So... for your listening enjoyment... Kenny G??

One thing I find so interesting is how it seems like some of the best slow-dance/hook-up songs we play are ones that if you really listen to them are anything but romantic: "Let Her Cry" (guy singing about his junkie girlfriend), "Drive" (guy singing about his alcoholic girlfriend) and "Every Breath You Take" (stalker song). Its a small step from love to madness.
