Has anyone played both of these guitar, and could you tell me a basic difference between the two. Any characteristic sounds either might have. Thanks in advance. Joined: March 2005 Posts: 5567 Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | W597: W597 The newer model has the VIP preamp which is Ovation/Adamas top of the line preamp. 2080: 2080 2080 -2 The W597 is more traditional and the 2080 is cutting edge and very unique: both are nice; its a matter of personal preference! Joined: September 2004 Posts: 1180 Location: Vermont USA | I have the W597 great guitar and I have played the 2080 on several occasions another great guitar if I had the opportunity to choose between the two the 2080 would be the one and it would be based on looks only. I feel the W597 can and does hold its own to the 2080. At least for me it does. Pauly | ||

Joined: October 2006 Posts: 5575 Location: big island | the w597 cobalt i used to own had the OP-50 preamp and was excellent plugged in. i have not played a finer one yet. acoustically, it sounded too thin for my preference, which is why i sold it. i have not had opportunity to play a 2080 which probably sounds about the same plugged in and beefier acoustically. oh yeah...and WELCOME TO THE OFC, brooklyn! | ||
