just sitting here checking out some of the websites i used to get involved in quite a bit in my middle ages and now only maybe once every couple of weeks to try to stay up on some of latest poop and to see if any of the long time and older timers are still around and just watching the posts and not posting?

i just see that there are still maybe a handful of people that i still remember just by their names and never have met them but have a feeling of being good neighbors anyway , so i just wondered if there are any of you long timers still out there could you just check back in for a hello i;m still around. that would be great and also if you know of some of the old timers please give us an update on them.
i am going to put some old timers on the list i remember but haven't heard from

I am not an old timer, but I check in here almost daily as OFC is my favorite forum mainly populated by nice people.

GWB.. I am 10 years junior to your presence on the OFC, but definitely an old timer in terms of Ovationlore. I think a lot of OFC oldsters are still around, and living the same guitar lives as always, but in terms of online communication I sadly feel that many-- as with much of society-- have become accustomed to the pocket app"tweet" methods of connecting in lieu of actually composing a "post" on a static website. "Sadly" being the operative word of my point. Or maybe "from my dead, cold hands" in terms of the keyboard on my desk would better represent a personal sentiment to the whole scenario. It seems the less that people communicate in detail and with forged intent, the more we may as well just regress back to playing with cans and string.

I think there are more of the old guard and usual suspects around than you might think. But the world and how we communicate has changed a lot. This forum was once pretty much the only game in town for all things Ovation. But now it seems the infoverse is fragmented into a large number of ever more specific Ovation subcultures each with their own slant on things. I do believe I saw a Facebook group called "Fans Of Sunburst Ovation Tornado Guitars With Hairline Surface Checking".

I am happy to report that I still do cross paths (in person or virtually) with a number of the folks I met during the first 2-3 years of this forums existence. And quite a few of those relationships will last until both parties cease to exist.

If you have a question or comment (What brand of strings should I use ... How much is my guitar worth ... Ovation sighting ... etc) just put that letter in the mailbox and make sure you include a self addressed stamped envelope. You'll hear from me.

I think many of the “old timers” left in the 2012 (approx) exodus never to return. Combine that with the advent of FB, this place was effectively turned into a museum. Unless you have nothing better to do but post in the Insomniac Quiz.

Really? Never to return? That's a little extreme.....

What Witko said......

Probably not as raucous as in the past, but still active & faithful to the cause. Interests and time changes. I do note the proliferation of more discussion in different venues to which I have devoted attention & participation. This is still the relevant & original fan site. Continued thanks to Miles for stewardship, too!

I still check in almost every day, but don't feel compelled to post a reply. Old age might have something to do with it, although I see a lot of old people posting nonsense on other forums. I came here after the "old timers" who were around in the first 2 to 3 years because they were the best, or only, source of information about Ovations on the internet. I agree with Witko, but personally there have been a number of life changes that take my time, some I consider wasteful, other than Ovations. I am down to 19 of them now and don't want any more. I just want to play the ones I have. This forum was my motivation for doing so 15 years ago and I haven't really found a replacement.

Hello, Everyone,
I check out this forum almost every day since I joined, but I also don't feel compelled to post something on it, because always I'm looking at what's for sale in the world of OVATION guitars. I've always described my activity here as, "lurking in the background", and I've met many great people, and learned tons of information through my participation on this site. Am I another, "old timer?" By now, I'd say so, because I played my first OVATION guitar in 1969. However, if we're just considering time on this forum, others were here way before me. Most recently, I tried to reach the Ren-Ovation page on FB for repairs on my guitar but got nowhere fast. I'll keep posting here as long as this forum remains viable, and I'll keep playing my OVATION guitar until they put me in the ground.

Not an old-timer, but I did attend the 2007 Trebuchet event, and check in frequently. And still buying Ovations.

I check in almost daily. I'm also a member of a few Ovation groups on FaceBook where there is a lot of chatter, but mostly not terribly interesting.

Damon is still around and still actively dealing in Ovation, Adamas, Peavey, BC Rich, and who knows what else.

Still here as well and will probably always will be. SO's definitely right about there's more around than you might think and other outlets may have watered this one down a little bit but I still think it's the premier source of everything Ovation. The knowledge that's here in the archives may never be matched anywhere.

I still come and go, and that is unlikely to change. But as time has progressed, I've found I have less to say, and I spend less time online in general than I used to.

FWIW, I still get an occasional kick out of digging through the archives here. The sheer wealth of knowledge, experience, and entertainment buried here is pricelss!

I spent Christmas vacation reading old postings, starting as far back as I could go without hitting the archives (2009 I think) and working my way forward.

Still around. Check in every few days, lurking to what’s up and what’s for sale. Fondly remember the early days.

Well I'm here... We get on average at least one new member signing up each day. Sometimes they post, sometimes they don't. Sometimes more than one. But, there are still people knocking at the door which is nice. 23+ years and still going.

I gotta say that I went back into the archives the other night and spent hours going thru a ton of posts .
This website had an answer for anything Ovation related and a crazy group of family members who used to have a whole bunch of fun and laughs about our lives and guitars adventures.
I spent another 3-4 nights going thru all of the old forum posts and I have not laughed so hard at some of the posts since the days they were put out.
A great reminder of all of the good times had by a bunch of strangers who at first only had a brand of guitar that brought them to this website.
A lasting tribute to Miles & Al for creating such a gem, GREAT JOB guys.
I'm curious thou ,

Hey Al
I am curious When is the last time you had to give someone a VACATION ?

guitarwannabee,
I know you didn't ask me, but the last time we had to give someone a vacation was likely just before OMA (may he rest in peace) took over the "Welcome Center". Up to the actual day he passed, he was the gatekeeper here only letting in the proper type of riff-raff. He is sorely missed.
