OK so here's my problem apart from being a newbie and a computer geek
First off greetings to all!

The Long Version:
Few years back, ok so ten years back I've had a guitar some no name PoS and a friend who was teaching me how to play while he himself was still learning to play so the whole thing didn't work out and I've sold my guitar thinking that that wasnt for me. A year ago somebody left me and my collegues at work a guitar another PoS(Stagg acoustic/electric). I shoud mention that I work at music tv station so I was surrounded by people who know how to play, so everybody played it almost every day the thing is after you finish your job you are just sitting there waiting for a computer to finish so basicly you are doing nothing and so out of boredrom I regained my intrest in playing a guitar just to pass the time I was tired of surfing the net all the time and my boss had a problem with me surfin all the time but he didnt have any problem with me playing a guitar (he's a Brian May guitar owner), go figure... Anyway few days back I've decided to buy me a guitar :D so I went to a store to check out few guitars I didnt want to spend more than $200 and I wasnt sure what I was going to get but funny thing happend I walked in and saw this thing that I immediatley fell in love with and no I'm not talking about the tall blond sales woman with a pushup braw :D I'm talking about Ovation Standard Elite 6778 at that time I didnt know about Ovation because no one has ever mentioned it everybody is talking about Fenders and Brian May guitars so Ovation was new to me I was blown away by it's looks so as I approached and picked it up from the stand it was life changing (ok im exagerating a bit) but it did feel right sort of arthur and the sword in the stone thing IT FELT RIGHT! with a beautiful neck... I am talking about a guitar not the blonde with the big... anyway next thing that I saw was price tag and a big cocrete thing coming my way that was the floor. After being revived by this nice sales woman (I wish) I was offered a as they said a "scale down" version of 6778 that is just the same yea right! so this scale down version was Custom Celebrity 44 looks nice but thats it! So I've spent couple of days and nights digging internet and coming up to speed on Ovation and their products and realised that I think I coud live with buying a Custom Celebrity Deluxe 44-HB for the time being even thou I realy, realy, realy want a US made Ovation prefferably Adamas:D but life sucks and you can only afford a Korean CC44. To sum it up after borring you to death, but you have to addmit that that blonde is a real knockout... :D anyway back to my original problem...

The Short Version:

Shoud I buy a CC44 for $350 or is CSE44-HB well worth extra $200 (I also like CS347-FKOA is it better that CSE44 or it's just better looking), bare in mind that I am just starting so I dont know very much about guitars, ok so I know few cords and few song intros and with a lot of practice which I'm willing to commit to (only if its an Ovation guitar) because lets face it now that I've seen and heard Ovation no other guitar does it for me:D the reality is I know that probably I can find a cheaper non-Ovation that sounds same or better than CC44 and get by until I learn to play... better. The other problem is that I've never heard CSE44 in action because they dont have it in store and they have to order one which they say will take anywhere from a month up to three months which is too much waiting for me (I'm from Croatia btw) because Im slightly loosing intrest on account of all of my friends who say that I dont need a guitar especialy not an Ovation (maybe they are just jelous :D ) now and that I have other more important issues at hand... ok so I got fired from work for playing a guitar too much or was it from playing guitar poorly I cant remember which :D Bottom line is I LIKE playing guitar even if I suck at the time being and will probably play just for my self and I dont know maybe Im too old (26) to start playing now or is it never too late to start? Im planing on using internet as my resource on how to play a guitar or do you think that I shoud get a tutor and few books first? I realy like www.actiontab.com they've got the best/easiest way of learning to play IMO. Well thats it for now:) Thanks in advance, and I'm sorry for geting carried away with writing this loooooong post and also for any lack of english if it's notcable, hopefully not but still... :D

if you are wondering about my screen name i wanted to use jeff w but since its taken... just kidding:) hopefully I wont get shot!:>

omp2k1,Welcome on board..!!
The Celeb`s are Fine guitars,my youngest son has one,and it compares favorabely to my US made O`s,I presume that you are talking about the CC44 deLuxe cut-away model, great to start out with, now, the internet can provide you with idea`s ,but since that you`re serious about learning how to play, find a Good Teacher,it goes a thousand times faster,And..when you feel "down",..like,ooh,it`s sooo hard..,the teacher can help you to get over it,so,I would say,the CC44 is an excellent choice, have it set-up for Low Action (for ease of playing),put on some bright-sounding phosfor-bronze strings, may I suggest gauge 11-52 (or for more volume 12-54 ),and a Good guitar teacher, and you`ll do fine.. :)

Vic

..Good Luck..

Your odds of getting shot are much reduced not using the screenname, "jeff w"...

Post a "want ad" in the "sale/trade" area you might find someone has something for you... around your price and possibly USA made.

Welcome... and never post anything that long again.

Of course, Jef W is still open as a screen name.
(until just now, Jeff W is going to tie it up as I type.)

Welcome omp, you have a sense of humour that will fit well in here.

My advice? If you loved a woman but married her cousin because she was easier to marry, would you be happy years down the road?....
...see if you can get someone here to sell you the one you like in your price range. Almost everyone here, except Jeff, is relatively trustworthy. (oh, and some fillhixx creep!)

My second piece of advice? Learn to use paragraphs.

Ok so I have a new deal with the shop owner he said that he can sell me these models:

6778LX Standard Elite
1778LX-5 Elite LX
S778AX-AB Elite Special

at his dealer pirces which are around 300 bucks less so that woud make them around the same as CSE44-HB Korean hmmmm... tough decision:) which one of these three shoud I get?

(is this better)I have to say that I got carried away with typing my original message:> and you can't really properly format text in this little window because it gets streched(excuses, excuses:))

Btw I got carried away A LOT with the whole guitar learning thing I was gonna buy a PoS guitar for $200 just to get me started and if I decide to by a true O then I have to say goodbye to a realy nice Dell 24" TFT:(

So I realy need to know that any of the above mentioned models is well worth the sacrifice? :)

Oh and which one shoud I get IYO?

I got a CC44, and I like it!! :p
A CSE44 has a Solid Top I believe. Depending on the year and options, it may have a better pre-amp. Mine has an OP4BT, which has a tuna. (Big Deal) I have two other imports with OP24+ pre-amps, which are much more versatile.
Anyway, I paid about $400 for my CC44... If you are patient, you might get a USO for that much.
But if you like it (I like mine), Buy it, and Play it.

Oh yeah... Welcome! We're all Bozo's on this bus, so climb aboard!

1778LX and don't look back. You sound like you will be a serious player in not much time. You will never outgrow the 1778; you'll most likely be sorry you got the cheaper model within a year.

Welcome, and...choose wisely. John <>{

Like John said...
I started out with an Applause, moved to the celeb series, and finally got to the US made guitars. A rather expensive way to do it. Go for the top first. You won't regret it.

The dealer just sent me another offer C2078LX that costs $50 more than 1778LX is it worth it, I dont like the machines colour - pearl buttons, 1778LX is much prettier just on account of that :D looks arent everything but still... :)

btw whats the going rate for kiddneys I have one I wish to sell and then I can go for Adamas instead :D

my bigest problem isnt the money, well somewhat it is but whats realy worrying me is the thought that maybe along the way I loose intrest and stop playing...
but right now I know that I want to play and I even had a few dreams about that guitar
(hopefully thats not gonna sound wierd here :D )

And also I keep hearing from my friends dont buy it you'll regret, its too much money...
Im not shure if some of them are jealous or what but they are realy killing me, but thats a whole different story...

well by next week I'll probably decide, till then I'll be bugging people on OFC :D
Thanks everybody for the info ;)

Naw... That's not TOO weird!
Hey, if you spend enough money on an O, you definitely won't lose interest.

omp2k1,
A seasoned guitarist can make a guitar, found in the trash-can sound good, the advice of your friends make sense, most of the seasoned musicians that I know (incl. myself) ,choose their instruments based on looks,..Volume and Tone can be adjusted by choosing the "Right" strings, look at Arthur`s First post once more ( the one with the picture !! ) ,he make`s sense too ,a Solid Top takes time to "mature" ,a Laminated Top does not change much ,such a Top can be Very Good , every ADAMAS guitar has a Laminated Top.. ,I would say ; Buy a guitar that you like ,can easily afford, and , this is Very Important "Have the shop Adjust the guitar to Low Action" ,so that it is Easy to Play ,...and find a Good Teacher..!!..,now ,with this little tool you will be able to adjust Volume and Tone of Any guitar, here is the String-Guide from C F Martin,..

http://www.martinstrings.com/strings/stringselect.html

..Have Fun..

Thanks Solid Top, I have few more days to think about it...

btw I suggest you buy them that 24" TFT (Dell 2407WFP) it is worth every penny take that from a computer geek, but then again maybe you shoud wait 'till the new Samsung hits the shelves prices will drop, and the Samsung it self will be better than Dell 2407WFP, so then they are probably gonna want that one :D

btw Arthur that dream thing was a joke :D

omp, if I were to buy one of those, it would be the 2078LX. The deep contour bowl is the shiz! It feels natural to me when holding it, and the sound is full and balanced.

My daughter has the 1778 (pre-lx) version, and I can honestly say that it is a fantastic guitar. For the price it is amazing. But it is the medium bowl, which some people find likes to roll around, especially when playing standing up.

I would be thrilled to have either the 2078 or the 1778. You will never outgrow either one, and both are of professional quality. They will play in tune, they will have good action, and the sound just couldn't be better for twice the money. The electronics are excellent in both for when you play plugged in. Between the two, money not being an issue, I would go for the 2078 simply for the deep contour bowl.

Get a guitar stand, and keep it propped up in the room and it will get played more. Also, get an Adamas I. If you lose interest, you can get your money back out of it. ;)

omp, I bought a 1778LX in November of last year and love it. Since then I have gotten a U681T or UTE Adamas. I figured that I would sell the 1778LX to help pay for the UTE. Even though I like the UTE better, I just can't bring myself to sell the 1778. It has an entirely different feel, tone and sound than the UTE and should. Just a different guitar altogether, but in no way a bad guitar. I change between the two on different songs (I must know at least 10 songs by now) They provide me with different sounds that fit a particular song better. Oh well, I have an idea that the 1778 will be with me for a long time.

Point of the story, you may ask? By the 1778LX..it's a wonderful guitar.

Good Luck in your decision! :)

Thanks Jim, and Blues these two models are as far as Im willing to go and the bottom line is CC44 (sissy44 if you say it fast:)) & CSE44.

Has anyone copmpared C2078LX & 1778LX in person, and which one sounds & plays better?
Souly speaking from their specs C2078LX shoud be better deeper bowl, 3AGSS, etc...
but then again its got them damn pearl buttons... :D
