Location: Snåsa, Norway | Was in Stockholm this weekend, on a concert and workshop with Ernie Hawkins, and had a great time!
My first experience of this kind and a true pleasure meeting fellow guitarists. I've hardly played outside my living room, so this was really useful and extremely inspiring. I'm a great fan of Rev. Gary Davis, and meeting Ernie who have learned so much from him was just wonderful, It's about as close you can get to the master.
Ernie taught about the C-A-G-E-D system, and we learned how to move a 12-bar blues progression up along the fretboard and navigate with this system. Though I know the theory and have read a lot about this, learning it from a live teacher was really enlightening. I felt that it sort of cracked some codes I haven't managed to break on my own. So hopefully I'll make one small step ahead in my playing, if not a giant leap. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Hobbypicker, I think we all could use a good lesson or two now and then. I've never had one and sometimes it shows. I just finished a two hour jazz concert this past weekend and in preparing for it over the past two months, I think I learned more about fretboard theory than during the previous 45 years combined. Now I'll probably forget it all. |

Location: New Jersey, USA | The problem with literally ANY type of learning on the guitar is that, if you don't put it into practice, it leaks away shortly after being absorbed.
I've attended the National Guitar Workshop in CT a couple of times. Matt Smith is a frequent participant, as are many other fine players. It's a week of total immersion, and for a desperate weekend warrior with wife, kids, and mortgage - it's like going to Heaven. Other than the crappy food of course. :)

Just a GREAT "strumming" guitar!
The one I'm playing in the pic is a mid-70's Gibsom J-45 that I was picking-up following a bridge replacement (belongs to a good friend of mine).
Not a bad sounding guitar . . . . for a Gibson. |

Just had a capital "T" on the headstock . . .

my old gibson j-200s used to do that too. i'm jonesin' for another guitar that would do the same thing without needing a neck reset out of the box.
and that's a big "room" to fill (behind you with the EF75!) |

Yes, it is the EF360SBlewGrass. with the cool tube preamp. A stonking guitar.
Hobby Picker, The CAGE system is a great foundation to have for playing. Pretty much all chords come from those forms (the D is just the C moved up) |

Location: big island | ah-ha! i just discovered there is a model TF360S BG that has the cooltube and EF360S BG has the palethetic. think i'd like the cooltube for gigs. gotta get a battery charger tho'.
so beal, is yours an EF or a TF?
the EF75 is definitely a fingerpickin' dream but i don't care to strum it much. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | the cool tube is better for gigs. Got a great tuner in it. Both the 340 and 360 blewgrasskirts come with the line driver or the cool tube. I've got one of each and the cool tube is the shit. Now there's nothing wrong with the line driver preamp, we all have that in our 75s, and it would have been a crime to cut up the Brazilian sides. But since the 360 is just Indian, chop away, and the go for the CT version.
As a side note my 360 has been modified, it's got gold pearl diamonds and square snowflake inlays and the neck has been reshaped, still just as thick but more V shaped, less U shaped. I have also been warned that when traveling and shipping a cool tube guitar, take out the battery pack. The weight of it can crack the sides, they are solid wood you know, not ply. Just put it in the case pocket and you've got no worries. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | The Fall colors are one of the things I miss about living "back East". That's what people out here call anything east of the Rockies. We seem to have skipped Fall this year. Went right from fire season to snow in the slightly higher elevations. Most of the trees just turn yellow. Not many hardwoods. |
