You guys are free to get a room. Just watch out, Andrea...when Jeff offers to check you for ticks, that's his idea of foreplay so you'd better catch up 'cause it could be a short run from there...

I gots buckets of respect for Allison Krauss.
However... Last weekends "leaf-peeping" trip in norhtern Michigan found us listening to the country station. Actually, that's about all you can get up there. Anyway, we heard this Gawd-awful, cry in your beer duet called "He Put The Bottle To His Head & Pulled The Trigger" and they found him next day face down in the "piller". He drinks hinself to death pineing over her and little does he know that she is drinking herself to death over him. And yes... they also find her, "face down on the piller".
I was appauled to hear it was Allison Krauss singing the girl part.

I believe Brad Paisley was the male part of the duet (and probably wrote it to), Brad, and that song has brought me to tears almost every time I've heard it.

Not because I like it, mind you...I just can't get to the radio dial quick enough.

There is a single of their work on iTunes (under Robert Plant, I don't remember the name). I'll have to say I really like both of these artist but the single I listened to didn't seem to reflect the best of either's potential. I was WAY disappointed. Maybe it gets better from there.

I learned that song, Whiskey Lullaby, after I heard Melonie Cannon's rendition, which is a far, far better thing than what Paisley/Krauss did. It's a great song, but I agree that it was diminished, very unexpectedly, in the version on Krauss' album. It's the only thing I've heard her do that I didn't really care for, maybe because I liked Cannon's version so much, but I think somehow Krauss' magic formula got messed up on that track.

The rumored duet with Robert Plant and Alison Krauss is curious, but hey, she did a duet with John Waite recently, too.

As far as the off topic bash of Whiskey Lullaby, the song was 2005 CMA Song of the year. It was co-written by Bill Anderson and Jon Randall. If you have not heard Jon Randall's recorded version you are missing out. Visit www.jonrandall.com if you are interested.

I had no idea of the songs pedigree. That was the first time I ever heard it. Just chalk it up to one man's opinion.
That being said.... There are a good number of country songs I do like. And I'll keep my ears open for more.
