just in case anyone wondered why i haven't been keeping up with the posts, i just had my right shoulder operation on tuesday , and am just getting back to the computer typing left handed. i need to keep this sling on for SIX WEEKS and, they say, can't play the guitar. but then again, i've always known that. i've already been able to wedge the mermer parlor under my arm and play a few chords, and hoping it will loosen up a bit during rehab, which started wed.

Jim, please...do what they tell you. I had back surgery a few months ago and I was very careful to do what my Dr. wanted of me. I recovered faster than he expected and I'm doing better than anyone thought I would. Forget the guitar. Watch guitar videos.

Get well soon Jim.. when I had the bone spur in my left shoulder done...the arm was out of commission for about 8 weeks, but even the recovery pain and weakness and the pain of OT was better than the shooting pains/nerve problems that were caused by the spur....they told me I couldn't play either...

even after recovery... I guess they're still right :(

doesn't stop me tho.. I keep trying.

hope you feel better soon.

Glenn

Thanks guys, I know this will take a while, as I had the other one done a couple of years ago. Simple things are really a challenge. Ever try to wipe your butt with the other hand?

I had mine worked on back in Feb. and was out of commission for a while. I bought a SS Balladeer that allowed me to get back to playing sooner than my deep bowls would.

Speaking of surgery, anybody heard from Goober? I don't think he's been back since his knee replacement back in May.

Get well soon Jim and be kind to that shoulder. My friend thought he was smarter than the doctor after a rotator cuff tear repair - started playing golf after 4 weeks - can you say, he had another surgery shortly after that!!!

Step away from the guitar - don't make me shoot this gun lol

Buy yourself a new guitar so you have something to look forward to in 8 weeks.

I had surgery years ago to screw back together a nasty seperated shoulder from a bicycle crash. My right arm was strapped to my torso for the first 3 weeks post-op and it was 8 weeks or so before I could lift it over my head. But damn if I wasn't back out biking just a few days post-op riding with left hand only. On the guitar side, I owned a strat at the time, and I found that I could wedge the guitar under my arm (almost ukulele style) and play. I could not strum, but I could actually finger pick it up near the neck pickup. Wasn't a bad way to pass the time.

Get well,

Dave

Come on G3, how long have you known me ???

Wouldn't you think a smart-arse like me already KNEW that, and that's WHY I wrote the post I did ??? There is NEVER a post I write that means exactly what it says. You need to connect the dots to see how this mind really works.

warmest prayers and wishes for a full and speedy recovery, jim.
shoulders are wonderful things when they work well and are in no pain. i did not ever require surgery, but it took nearly two years to recover from a rotator cuff injury i got the first time i went skiing on powder at wolf creek in colorado ten years ago. probably would have repaired quicker but i could not leave my jumbo gibson alone.

take care, save your meds, take them later.

Now you know you're getting old when you save them for that "big time" and wind up using them for when you work too hard in the yard and use them for what they're supposed to be used for.

Jim, I hope for a swift and complete recovery for you. Look forward to seeing you in Orlando at the end of the month. I will bring something for you to shake or beat or maybe a Kazoo, yeah that's it, a Kazoo. I will make sure that it's a lefthanded model for you.

Happy Healing!

and as far as the other offer, sit and spin. :D
BTW, your list of guitars seems to be getting quite a bit larger, and more expensive.
