Location: Upper Left USA | That was a total custom shop and not a production model as Dave said. Samova had two Double Deacon bodies made and assembled one of them.
I have aspirations to assemble a 6/12-hollow-body-Preacher-necked-acoustic-electric-ready for VXT internals Mutt.
I am just so thankful that Tupp flunked Woodshop and isn't grafting Uke/Martin/Tak parts together!

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | I always wanted a Gibson EDS-1275 and last year I bought a white one: killer looking guitar and the 12 string neck was TDF...but it was heavy and awkward to play and the 6 string neck had the usual Gibson problems: intonation and string breakage from sharp tuner edges...but is sure did look great! I traded it for the NAMM Adamas I. Never looked back. |

I always wanted one of the early hollow Gibson 6/12. Had a chance to buy a refinished one for 3K back i the early 90's. It was white and stripped and refined natural. I should have bought it and had Hamer redo the redo. But I didn't and just had them make me one from scratch. |

Location: big island | there's an elderly guy here in hilo that will often perform at the local zoo for events (such as the white tiger's birthday!) and he plays one of the most interesting double necks i have ever seen. it is an older (mid 40's) gibson archtop 6 string with a gibson f-style mandolin "siamesed" into it. appears to be a professionally done job and he plays it well. i've always got a kid on my back so i haven't had opportunity to ask about it. i overheard him telling someone about the guitar's age. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | I came very close to buying a white EDS-1275 a few years ago. Was looking at them for two years, bid on about a half dozen and was runner-up on half of those. I think Stephen still has a real interesting Ibanez model available. Then I got distracted with the OFC and Koala models, among others. A used Celeb double-neck is probably a good buy to try out. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | I played it! Graziano is located out in CA. Actually just down the road from Aeroplane Marc, but I didn't know it at the time. Yup, this double neck weighs almost nothing. Only problem is that 1) waiting time is about 1.5 years and 2) price is $2600.
But is IS pretty cool ...

Location: Phoenix AZ | Nothing is "normal" in the world of ukuleles, but "normally" the lowest two courses (G and C) and octaves and the highest two courses (E and A) and unison. Actually the double neck that I played at Graziano was a 6/4 double, not a 8/4 double. Dave |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Can't swing it. I was discussing a regular old tenor with him and even that was out of my reach. Of course he had one for sale was made from spruce and rosewood salvaged from an early 60's D28 whos neck somehow disappeared ... Very cool instrument, he used the sides as-is, just re-ironed them slowly into uke shape. The rosewood back be planed down to about 2/3 of it's original thickness and the spruce top he planed down to almost half. Used the original braces as stock to hand carve new uke sized braces. A lot of work went into it and it was an amazing instrument. But well over $3k ... gulp.

Based on the responses, and my own experiences, my comment to Aussie was to stick a toe in the water and see if you like it before diving in head first, which more typically is my M.O. |
