Back is finished in high gloss natural, top is "ultimate flame Koa" according to the accompanying custom order certificate of authenticity, and the binding is the darker ivoroid style from Hamer. The natural stain and high gloss finish on the back really brings out the grain of the mahogany as well as matches the general appearance of the Koa top, which is nearly identical to the color and grain of Al's Koala. I'm experimenting with different pickup rings and knobs to complete the "ultimate" look (cream or chrome), but I'm thinking this one is sensational!

That black thing they offer reminds me of those all-black Les Paul Studios that the teenagers buy because it's the cheapest one they can get their hands on. If I saw something like yours in the store it would give me a good reason not to look at a T5 right off the bat. What I mean to say is...very beautiful.

I have been telling the factory for years not to use bowl paint on the back of vipers. maybe now they will start to offer it just as an option. The vxt is a really nice guitar and this koa one is spectacular.
