Just arrived from the factory, care of the good folks at LAV, perhaps the first custom VXT made? Back is finished in high gloss natural, top is "ultimate flame Koa" according to the accompanying custom order certificate of authenticity, and the binding is the darker ivoroid style from Hamer. The natural stain and high gloss finish on the back really brings out the grain of the mahogany as well as matches the general appearance of the Koa top, which is nearly identical to the color and grain of Al's Koala. I'm experimenting with different pickup rings and knobs to complete the "ultimate" look (cream or chrome), but I'm thinking this one is sensational!

Oooh, my. I hope you setup your royalty contract in advance on that scheme. That's just stunning, Professor. The nicest vxt I've seen by a longshot. Very nice work.

It's simply stunning! That's got to be an awesome feeling when a guitar that you pretty much designed yourself shows up at the door...this one, and Remy's - just amazing.

Now THAT gives me a reason to want one of these guitars. That black thing they offer reminds me of those all-black Les Paul Studios that the teenagers buy because it's the cheapest one they can get their hands on. If I saw something like yours in the store it would give me a good reason not to look at a T5 right off the bat.

What I mean to say is...very beautiful.

Prof, congrats! That VXT is awful!

I was thinking of a VXT custom order in a natural finish, but your's beats all! Very, very nice!

this guitar came out above and beyond all expectations.

simply beautiful.

I have been telling the factory for years not to use bowl paint on the back of vipers.

maybe now they will start to offer it just as an option.

The vxt is a really nice guitar and this koa one is spectacular.

Hah...I think the guitars were happy to have a musician on them for a bit instead of a hack!...although we did play a rousing version of ELP's "From the Beginning".

Yeah, we hear FTB a lot at the Tours... it's Cliff's test song for new guitars. Apparently yours 'passed'.
